Futurama: Jurassic Bark...

The Fatman

Captain
Captain
...was just on, and is possibly the saddest, most depressing thing I've ever seen on TV.

I think I've gotta go cry it out for a while.

yes, I will turn in my man card later.

You'll have to take my man card too, cuz I was cryin' up a storm the first time I saw it too... in fact I've never really been able to sit through the ending after that first time (there's always a reason for me to step out of the room for 90 seconds when the ending comes on).

I think it effects me as it does cuz I lost a Dog a few years earlier in similar circumstances: he waited until I got home (as if he was waiting to say goodbye) before he died in my arms. The image of Fry's Pooch waiting and waiting for Fry to come back, growing older and older until he just dies, gets me everytime.

Cartoons aren't supposed to tug this hard on the heart-strings.

I think thats my least watched episode of Futurama. I find it hard to sit through the ending too. :(

Don't worry, the first Futurama movie pretty much destroys the episode.

Good. It deserved it.

It was a good show. Easily a top-10, no doubt. Perhaps even a top-5.

But then, for some reason, every Futurama fan online decided that it was the 2nd coming of Christ and should be in the running to replace the bible as a new religion.

Ok, it's good, but things got out of hand. The anger people expressed towards that movie only proved how far it had gone, and thus justified what the film had done. It needed a good stomping.

Yes it does.

Still, a great episode with a poignant ending. Futurama could pull that off now and again (like The Luck of the Fryish).

Thank you! Justice. I've been trying to say that for months about BBS (and what it does to pretty much every episode that had heart/tied to Fry's past life), but fans look at me like I'm the crazy one.

Oh I HATE the first movie. Let's completely rewrite history to make a REALLY bad movie with old lame jokes. The only thing the DVD was missing was a Bill Clinton joke.

The second movie was OK, dumb ending, the third movie was OK, REALLY dumb and rushed ending. haven't seen the 4th yet.

The show isn't coming back... at least for 2-3 years.

^ Well, they did have two Al Gore ones (which, I have to admit, were really funny).

The first movie was terrible. For an animated show was such a strong continuity, I was shocked at the retcons and Neros they made with it. Plus, it dragged down the story making it needlessly confusing.

The second, I think, is the best of the bunch. Very clever and funny. David Cross as Yivo was great.

The third was enjoyable, but the whole D&D stuff failed. Mostly because it just felt like the writers said "Crap...we still need another half hour. Um...lets to this!" It just felt out of place and didn't amount to really anything (save for the reveal of the connection between two characters).

The fourth was very meh. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good. It was just sort of there. For what could be the final adventure for this crew and how the producers were really going on about how epic the movie was going to be, it felt really flat.

Overall, the Futurama movies were let downs, which was really disappointing for me as I am a big-big Futurama fan.

I agree completely! I was loving the third movie with them making fun of oil companies and such, big letdown.

The only thing great about the first movie is the thing with Box Delivery and on the commentary the writers were talking about how Fox never canceled them, they just stopped returning our calls. Great network!

It's actually one of my most-watched, specifically because it provokes such a strong reaction, each and every time. Is that weird?

I can't watch it. Having also lost dogs, and very aware of how loyal they are... no. I can't. I'll turn in my man card too.

Mind you, if you put every guy who blubbered at this in one place, you'd need a stadium.

I feel relieved I haven't seen the first film.

I like Family Guy, although it's gone downhill in recent years. Ditto for The Simpsons. Futurama though, pisses all over both of them.

Sad that the former have gone on to become behemoths of the animation industry whilst Futurama didn't really get the credit it deserved.

Still, at least the movies hint at the possibility that the show has some sort of future.

It was a sad episode, i'm not much of a dog person though, they irritate me.

Futurama is a brilliant show though, I would echo the sentiments of those who say it is better than the Simpsons, Family Guy et al. It's not just a funny show, in fact a lot of the time the sci-fi elements are so interesting and surreal that it doesn't even need to be funny, it's a great sci-fi show!

You shouldn't be. It was the best of the four. If anything ruined the Futurama movies, it was that Dungeons and Dragons one.

And, and I the only man who DIDN'T cry at Jurassic Bark? It was one of the good episodes, yes, but hardly a cryfest.

Of course, I'm not a cryer, so maybe that's it.
