Bow to Scorpio

Yep...and so now we have rumors that KHAN could be the next storyline in TREK 12. I even started a post, last fricking year, to RECAST KHAN. I have been bringing up this possibility in several other threads, to the laughter of some of you...and now...it may happen.

Oh, and whether or not you like the idea is really unimportant. Because I have also been telling you that they (JJ and Paramount) could give a flying "f" as to what "we" think on the matter. They are trying to make popular movies, and Kirk-Khan is what they call the perfect 'branding' idea. It is perfect and it is a great idea..and I think we will see it happen..

Just as I said.

Bow to me...Bow to me.

(Now its time for a sinister laugh)

Meh. Despite it not being my first choice, I can see exactly why they would bring Khan back. He's The Joker of the Trek franchise. It makes sense in so many ways.

Added: Good call Scorpio.

Like I said in another thread, every Trek movie made in the past fifteen years has either ripped off TWOK or masturbated to it. I guess it's about time they just went ahead and remade the damn thing.

Thanks Dobler. And that Joker comparison is really good. And the best part? Just like the Joker, regular people don't really need to be educated about the KHan/Kirk connection.

The nay-sayers will say that the reason Kirk/khan worked the first time was due to the relationship that stretched back 15+ years. They might even find khan in 12, he tries to take over the ship, and then he escapes..only to come back and get his revenge in trek 13..

It kind of reminds me of Godzilla, in a weird way. No matter how many times they reboot Godzilla, he always ends up fighting some newer version of Mechagodzilla...why? Because that is Godzilla's prime arch-enemy (him or Ghidora, who also always shows up in any reboot)

Star Trek movies have never ever been about exploration...even you should know that as a Star Trek fan. TMP might be the last movie to make that claim...

Indranee for story consultant!

Hey Orci, Kurtzman and Lindeloff, listen to Indranee. She is wise!

"even I should know"?

what the hell does THAT mean? explain yourself.

whether or not you're right, I want THIS new movie/series to be, though. something wrong with that?

No offense meant. I'm just saying, that as star trek fans, we all pretty much know that Star Trek movies have never been about exploring strange new worlds...ect....We may want them to be, heck so do I, but they never really are. And thats what I meant...if I offended you then I am sorry.

I'm dead serious though. if they do this (get Khan or whomever), they can kiss the franchise goodbye.

yes, you heard it here first.

Well...with all due respects to Indranee, I will let JJ and his other writers make the decisions on this one. They have earned that right by making the first star trek movie in, well, decades, that is actually very popular with NON-fans. And that, above all else, was the most important task; or hadn't you noticed?

no, I'm just feeling a bit moody today. sorry if I took anything out on you, Rob. no hard feelings.

I'll be okay after we go watch the movie later!! ;)

yes, I know, what you're saying. and no, I will NOT hold them to what went before. this is a new team. I want something new. fuck that tired old shit. I want them to give us Star Trek's original promise. I want to see where we can truly go with GR's vision. I don't mind a mix. but I don't want a tired old hash of old stories and villains. if I want to watch TOS, I'll fucking go watch TOS. it's magnificent anyway.

yes, you heard it here first.

Yeah...heard that before. And as I said elsewhere? THATS just what they want from fans, like you, who don't understand that making popular movies trumps all this IDIC nonsense, and all this "why aren't they exploring strange new worlds" mantra I keep hearing.

JJ has just made a movie that may actually help Star Trek hip again. If he thinks Khan will work, he will do it...and if you get off the bus? He won't care at all. As I said, your not being in line to the next trek movie will make it crowd of 558 instead of 559. And in the large grand scheme of things? JJ likes that for all the reasons it implys. In fact, at some point, even I might not go for the reasons you state..so isnt that strange? I AGREE with you on some degree

Rob

hey, listen, you asked, here's my answer. insulting me as a fan of the franchise isn't really helping your cause, ya know.

if you don't wanna know what I think, don't come posting in this forum with a preposterous title like "Bow to Rob".

I don't fucking care what you, JJ, or anyone else thinks of MY opinion.

I give it anyway.

whether or not it's acceptable to you or JJ or anyone else isn't my problem.

Look..I just said, in that last post, that I agree with you. That even I, the great and awesome Scorpio, may not go for some of the reasons you have stated. So lets keep it civil shall we?
