Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus

Saw the trailer for this a few days ago. It appears to be popping up all over the place.

It looks absolutely awful, but amusingly so.This will do far, far better than it has any right to.

Smart marketing.

Aeroplane? You go inside the plane? Plane goes in the air, shark's in the air. Our shark.

Farewell and adieu to you, fair Spanish ladies, farewell and adieu, you ladies of Spain...

Hey, maybe the buzz for this movie will rub off on The Asylum's other summer tentpole movies like -- Transmorphers 2 and The Terminators!

There's a 99.7% probablity that Sci-Fi will show this soon. Probably as a "Sci-Fi Original" movie.

I assume The Asylum just cannot lose, they produce these movies at a budget so low that they automatically make enough profit to make the next one.

I thought you were making The Teminators up, that sounded even below what The Asylum would stoop to but I guess I was wrong. EDIT: And Transmorphers 2 is now called Transmorphers: Fall of Man. :D

I think I read in an interview that their movies only make enough money to pay the employees and fund the next movie.

Well with all the internet buzz about this one, perhaps it'll fund them for some time to come. God help us......!

Maybe they're going to start naming all their movies "Mega." They've got a disaster movie called "Megafault" starring... Brittany Murphy, Eriq La Salle, Bruce Davison and Justin Hartley?!?!?!

If that's a hit, maybe we can see Mega Trek, Mega Expendables, Mega Airbender and Mega Predator.

Actually, looking at the 2010 calendar, Robin Hood, Predators and Gulliver's Travels seems like the ideal movies they can rip off since the stories are already familiar.

^^ Well with the new Transformers and Tron movies not too far away, perhaps they could cash in on both by releasing Mega-Tron.....!

the special effects look like they were taken from a cheap video game.

You know what, though - kids need cheap monster movies.

No, I'm serious - I grew up on those old Harryhausen flicks and Doug McClure monster movies, which were a staple of Sunday night movies on the BBC in the 70s.

Nowadays the likes of Cloverfield - or the ice monsters in Star Trek, for that matter - are fabulous big-budget creations, but they just don't have that cheerful "let's play" vibe, you know what I mean...?

Not like those Asylum movies!

I get your point but I think the sentiment might be misplaced in the current topic.

Movies made by The Asylum are most definitely not for kids, though they hope the old people shopping for their grandkid will see Transmorphers and think that's what they were talking about. Mac & Me and The Day the Earth Stopped are not even in the same league.

:guffaw:That's PRICELESS!:guffaw:And for the life of me, I cannot belive they are making a sequal to ''Transmorphers'' I could only watch 15 minutes of that crap, and here I was thinking Batman & Robin was the ultimate CRIME against humanity!:guffaw: How come hasbro hasn't sued there buts off for copyright? I mean COME ON, TRANSMORPHERS? they couldn't come up with something more original?

^ It's not a sequel. It's a prequel! Starring Bruce Boxleitner of all people!

Apparently the first one had nothing to do with Transformers but they changed the title to coincide with the Transformers. This time around, Transmorphers: Fall of Man was deliberately made to cash in on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

From what I remember from that CRAP heap I know it had nothing to do with transformers, but still I would have at least sued them for trying to cash in on using anything remotly sounding like the TRANSFORMERS name brand!
