Especially with this new attitude from Paramount that Star Trek should appeal to all audiences, Q would not make sense.

I want to see plenty of Kirk-Spock-McCoy debates. It's the bread n' butter of classic Star Trek, the meat n' potatoes of figuring out a dilemma.

I'm guessing with the success of this movie and the reboot of Star Trek Shatner will be approached for a more prominent role in the next Star Trek Film. They have no choice but to close the circle.

Shatner in sequel?
One of the ideas JJ’s floating around is having Shatner in the sequel. The only 3 ways I can see Shatner in the film are: Flashback with old Kirk retelling a story; Kirk time traveling from the future; Shatner playing a different character.

I honestly don't want Shatner in the movie, to try and get him into the next movie will ruin the story before it's even written.
They'll pull all sorts of ridiculous wacky stuff like more time travel or something and it will just ruin everything.

I'd LOVE to see Shatner in the next film, and AS CAPTAIN KIRK (not some other character).
But I do wonder how he can be involved though... I hope the writers will come up with something very good, and I trust these writers will! They've come up with an ingenious way to rewrite Trek history in a very unique way, so I think they'll be able to pull things of.

If Shatner's going to be in it - it would be ridiculous to have him as anything but the old Kirk that he is.
