Doctor Who classic series figures-what's next?

Heeroyuy

Lieutenant
Is there any plans for a wave three? So far the only Doctors needed to be finished are Pertwee and McCoy. We got wave II with the various Cybermen and the first two Doctors....Apparentally a special weapons Dalek, classic series Sarah Jane, Sontaran Styre, Earthshock Cybermen and Harry Sullivan were in the pipeline, but were either canceled or delayed. Anybody hear anything? Is the line selling?

Doctor Who Classic Series Wave 2 Figures

  • 7th Doctor Sylvester McCoy
Seventh Doctor (1987-1996) Sylvester McCoy without Hat as seen in Ghost Light (1989)

  • 8th Doctor

  • Ice Warrior
First appeared in The Ice Warriors (1967) as heavily armoured reptiles with claw hands

  • Morbius Monster
With 'goldfish bowl' head and giant crab claw as seen in The Brain of Morbius (1976) alongside Fourth Doctor Tom Baker and companion Sarah Jane Smith

  • Mummy with Jar
The Mummy robot will include an urn accessory. As seen in Pyramids of Mars (1975) with Tom Baker and Sarah Jane Smith

  • Tenth Planet Cyberman
10th Planet Cyberman finished in semi-transparent plastic. As seen in the four part serial The Tenth Planet (1966), featuring the First Doctor William Hartnell. In the first ever appearance of The Cybermen they land at the Antarctic on a mission to relocate all humans to the planet Mondas for transformation into Cybermen

  • Voc Robot
    V9 Voc Robot in green

  • 'Build A Figure' - Krynoid
As seen in the Tom Baker six parter The Seeds of Doom. Collect all the figures in the wave to assemble an extra figure, just like the K-1 Robot in Wave 1 figure packs

They've either been cancelled or delayed until 2010. Character aren't releasing any more Doctor Who toys of any sort this year. (Except for the very limited 1st, 2nd and 6th in blue outfit figures.)

The Cyberman came out in the Age Of Steel wave instead. A Deadly Assassin Master was rumoured as the replacement.

That may have changed again. There are suggestions of a 4th Doctor set (with some of the above) and Daleks set II will be released as store exlusives sooner rather than later.

No, none of that was Wave Two. The Cybermen were their own seperate wave. The 1st Doctor w/ Dalek, 2nd with Cybermen (color and B&W versions) and the "Real Time" 6th Doctor variant were all just Comic-Con Exclusive figures. The actual Classic Wave Two has yet to come out, or even given a real release date.

possibly, but I'd also heard (from people in the wholesale buying loop) that Character Options had been asked to effectively withdraw the range until a relaunch (new logo? possibly) to tie in with the Matt Smith series (you can already spot that Who toys are becomign scarse on the shelves, and the Microuniverse packs are beign sold off in the remainder bookshop near me). The only exceptionsd were the 1st, 2nd and 6th Doctor exclusives.

It's not just Character, all the licensees are basically taking a break this year.

Ultimately I think it's probably a smart decision as it stops the market being saturated before the next four year long onslaught starts.

And indeed the licensees are being asked to reapply...

I'd already anticipated a slow year due to the gap year on the show. Woolworths going down definitely didn't help either.

However, I've heard some things, rumours if you will, that there'll be something nice out for Christmas. Something that I've wanted since the line came out but... well, ya know how it is with rumours.

For some reason my first thought to that was Leela.
