New fan base, new faces? (Post your photo)

First off: I post this thread in this forum, because I believe new fans are more likely to be here then in other forums. However, if the mods think the link to the new movie is tenuous at best, feel free to move it of course.

I've read in the past few days that new people have registered since seeing the new Star Trek movie. That they now consider themselves fans of Star Trek, where they didn't before. People now seem to regard Star Trek as cool. No longer "nerdy", it now seems to be "geek chic", just like Doctor Who.

Well, with all the talk of new fans being attracted to Star Trek, I'd like to test this theory. Do most fans wear uniforms every day, speak only in Klingon and never catch any sunlight? Or do those preconceptions hold even less truth then they did before? I'm very interested in the photo's we'll see. Let's see how many uniform pictures will crop up. Let's bring those preconceptions to an end, shall we?

That, and I'd like to see the faces behind the names here. :D

So, to that end, please post a photograph of yourself. And if you go to conventions and wear a uniform, yes, you're one of those fans and your picture needs you to be in uniform. Sombrero's are only allowed if you wear them daily. :D

Seeing as I'm the topic starter, I believe I'll have to go first:

See, even looks (barely) normal! :D Who's next?

My uniform is in the drycleaners because I spilled my super-sized coke on it while trying to open a candy bar in the dark during my 8th viewing of Star Trek, the movie. So I can't post my photo at this point.

It was not my intention to suggest wearing a uniform is wrong, or anything! Just to challenge those preconceptions people have had about "Trekkies"; like the ones you are describing right now. :D

If you really have a uniform, don't you have an old picture of you in uniform then? Or, if you don't, a picture of you without uniform? I really don't want to be the only one with a picture. :D

Well, I'm not new, but I'll join in, anyway. This is a picture of me in front of the cinema before seeing the new movie for the second time. It's also the only photo of me wearing something Trek-related (a t-shirt with the Borg symbol from the TNG episode 'Descent').

Please no obscene tattoos on the photos or "gang sign". Nose ring, piercings and non-traditional hair colors are accepted.

What is "gang sign"? Also, obscene photos are kind of impressive. Because they're forever.

Maybe I'll post a pic of me wearing my wookie costume. That should take care of my privacy phobias.

I have a blue dress that almost looks like a dress!
Not the new fan, but came out of the closet not long ago :p

A twofer. Me being normal, drunk and with friends (I thought we weren't supposed to have any?) staring at an invisible pint, and another normal drunk fan staring at me.

Odd thread - but with the past few days I've been stereotyped to hell.

Yeah, OK, I'll play along... but I've been a fan since '66 and am not sure I meet your criteria. I have seen the new movie four times, though.

That's me drinking a Warp Core Breach at Quark's in Las Vegas before it closed late last year.

Not a new fan in general, but a fan of the new movie. I wonder if we'll still make first contact here in the new timeline...

Well, okay...I'm not a new fan, but I am new to the forum. I've gone to conventions, but never dressed up.

My kid is a new fan (he's only seen a few TOS eps), and I guarantee he won't dress up!

Doctor Who is chic? Hmmm. I guess I don't buy into the whole theory of this thread in general as I don't even think the new movie is "cool."

And a bunch of internet nerds posting pics isn't helping either! :P
