Did You See Trek in IMAX? Think again....

The screen in Ontario, CA was full IMAX sized. The movie wasn't shot on IMAX cameras so you'd have a point on that technicality, but size-wise I wasn't ripped off.

Yeah I was pissed when I went in the theater labeled IMAX and saw that piss-ant sized screen.

By the way, if you see an "IMAX" showing at a multiplex, just buy a ticket for a non-IMAX movie around the same time and save some money.

It is a shame that they are whoring out the IMAX brand, but you're really screwed either way with the picture. The sound is going to be better but you are either getting fleeced on the screen size or paying extra to see a 35mm original blown up for a gargantuan screen.

You know, as much as I enjoyed my IMAX experience (in a proper IMAX theatre I might add) - there were a couple of problems with the print.

At one point, a piece of dirt flicked onto the screen. Right in the middle of the "shuttles escaping from the Kelvin with the sun in the background" shot.

The piece of dirt was magnified to be as large as one of the shuttles.

Bit distracting. I'm glad it was my second viewing. :D

Yeah, because fraud and theft are good things.
I didn't say that you should steal the theater, just go into the wrong viewing.
Theft of services. And entering a building with the intent to commit a crime is by definition burglary.

I planned to see Star Trek in IMAX. Until I discovered that for € 9,- I could have a bigger screen and better sound then the € 18,- so-called "digital imax experience". I believe the only real IMAX anywhere nearby is in London, England.

If there's any fraud going on, it's the theaters claiming to be showing an "IMAX" movie without describing the distinction between their screen and what people usually think of as an "IMAX" screen.

London arguably has the most beautiful IMAX theater in the world.

Only if you enter without authorized access. Last time I checked, movie theaters like it when you go into them and give them money.
You buy a cheap ticket and go to an expensive screening, thats fraud, burglary and theft of services. That you think your argument has any legitimacy makes me giggle.

If you think that is burglary then you are wrong. :guffaw:

The problem is already settled for me. The nearest IMAX is far, far away from my rural, country home. I just cannot justify the trip into the big city- with the traffic and crowds- not even for Trek.

Burglary is entering a building with the intent to commit a crime. Breaking in is not required. You don't even have to steal anything. If you go in with the intent of committing a crime - any crime - you are by all legal definitions a burglar.
