I can't wait to see NuTrek versions of older designs from TOS (particularly Franz Josephs designs). And then there are the revised ships from other races too, such as the Klingons, Cardassians and others. I'd try my hand but except for miniature painting, I am not much of an artist. J
There was a brief clip in the film where Pike leads a whole bunch of Fed ships towards Vulcan. One of the ships looks a bit like an Akira.
I saw one that looked like it was similar to the constellation class, with a saucer section and four nacelles
Assuming I'm thinking of the one you are, it had two nacelles on top, connected by a curved rollbar, and two secondary hulls below.
Was it hulls underneath? You're probably right, but it was the one immediately to the right of the enterprise, and as they were warping out it was directly in front of the enterprise.
As mentioned upthread this is awesome. For a Star Fleet Battles/Federation Commander player like me (which is based off of FJ's ships), this is 100% as far as I am concerned. The only changes I would make are replacing the bottom dome on the primary hulls of the Saladin and Hermes with sensor arrays, otherwise it is just as I imagined. J
Did any one notice alot of the ships looked like the Matt Jeffries sketches for different layouts of Enterprise? Pretty cool that.
Yeah. One thing that JJTrek has done is ignore some of the nonsense design rules (like the "matched nacelle rule") that Roddenberry (not a design artist himsefl) laid down in an apparent attempt to de-privilege Franz Joseph's work. So fan artists don't have to play Starfleet Colorforms to quite the extent that was encouraged before.
And yet, Mr. Roddenberry is the creator of Star Trek, and responsible for its very existence. That must bug you to no end, lol.
Has anyone ever thought of what a JJ-inspired Enterprise-C or -D might look like? Or even Sisko's Defiant?
not really, because he also was known to be a raging asshole sometimes, the FJ argument, and screw over of Courage being two prime examples.
"But like a poor marksman, you keep missing the target." Come on Dennis, that was the perfect oppurtunity to quote TWOK. You lose 2 nerd points.
I got a drawer full of pre-war nerd points here somewhere. I'll get by. Is that you in your avatar? You look like "Farmer Ted" from "Sixteen Candles" in it.
I'm busy with JJ'ing the Carolina, I've continued work on it yesterday so I think I can show you some progress renders tonight
