Favorite Scene (spoilers)

Bamasi

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
For me it was near the end when the Enterprise warps in with phasers blazing to save Spock.

The first 10 minutes with George Kirk and Jim Kirk being born were amazing. It's one of the 5 best moments in Trek movie history easily. Up there with the Kirk-Spock scenes in II and III.

There's so many good ones but that's definitely near the top of my list. Kinda wanted to jump up and cheer.

Agreed. I was amazed how little fucking around there was before they got right into it.

I too appreciated the lack of fucking around. All I needed to see were the words "Star Trek" after that amazing opening. I agree with a lot of the reviews out there, that this felt more like the show from the 60s than all the prior movies did.

For me it's the first engagement between the Enterprise and Narada. From when they come out of warp and nearly crash into the destroyed fleet, to the Enterprise getting pounded by missles, and then to Nero calling out young Spock to everyone's surprise.

It probably helps that it's also my favorite piece of music on the soundtrack.

I agree about the awesomeness of the opening scenes; it actually choked me up. But my favorite scene was in the shuttle when Kirk applies to Star Fleet. Everything looked so real, and lived in (dare I say, Star Wars-y?), and everyone's interactions were great.

The opening sequence, especially when George is talking to Kirk's mom as he's about to die... only Trek movie scene to ever get me to tear up a little bit, and these were characters that we had only known for 10 minutes!

Kirk's confrontation with Spock on the bridge was pretty good too.

The Kelvin scenes and Kirks birth were unbelievably amazing. The best 10 mins experienced as a Trek fan by far.

Oh dear...I have a 4 month old son and the sequence with George Kirk over the comm while baby Jim is born...and the sound effects cut out as the Kelvin is ramming the Narada...I nearly lost it... :)

My eyes stung with tears at this:

"James T. Kirk."

"Who are you?"

"I have been and always will be your friend."

so poetic. i loved it.

I would add "I am not our father."

I loved the beginning as well including the scene with young Kirk driving (I cried and laughed in a 5 minute span).

I liked the Kirk/Spock fight a'la This Side of Paradise

That dialogue was absolutely fantastic, loved it, it almost moved me a bit... :)

Yes, that bit was brilliant. All Romulan scenes rocked, especially Nero's introduction to Pike was pretty cool.

I also liked the Spock/Uhura romance. Don't throw stones at me, I'm bering serious. It was very sweet, not-corny and well-done.
