"That's Me!" Avatar Week? (Silly idea inside.)

It really is odd seeing so many...regular humans as opposed to Vulcans and cartoon dogs and elephants and Cardassians and...

Then I can commiserate with you in this winter of our discontent.

That quote kind of goes with your fabulous chapeau, Neroon.
Vielen danke. My family likes to participate in costume re-enactments as Renaissance era German mercenaries, known as Landesknecht. That's part of my own costume, and the hat with the red feathers indicate I am the unit's provost. Although you can't see the whole of the costume, it's a nice one made by my sainted wife.

I'm convinced there's a limit to the amount of hair in my family, because the more kids I have, the more hair seems to disappear from my head!
My hairloss seemed to accelerate when we had our daughter 14 years ago.

Speaking of which, that's a charming avatar you have. Care to introduce us to your guest?

I concur. And I hop on the picture bandwagon.
Hey girl!! Good to see you again!!!

Which, the sombreroified tribble or the baby? That would be my third child, who's now 8 months old. The picture was taken when he was just 6 days old.

I gotta say, it's kinda weird posting here and seeing actual faces everywhere! This has really taken off, NCC-1701!

I gotta say the biggest surprise for me wasMisfit Toy. I had always thought Misfit Toy was a woman... I've had everyone else right so far.

That shameless flirt?!? He's been hitting on me since day one!

had I but know he was so handsome, I might not have played hard to get.

Hey! My eyes are up....

what was I saying again? :adore:

< I thought that I should go for a clean shaven look this weekend.

Nice, but I liked the maniacal smile better. :)

All right. Here I am.

Or rather, there I was. My beard is considerably longer these days.

Very intellectual. I like it.

The costume's great.
But shouldn't it be "Landsknecht"? And it's "Vielen Dank". :)

Now there's a notion... I might have some pictures that I can enter for that one -- actually, come to think of it, they're from the same album that I took this avatar pic from! Those were some good, sexy times (not so much for the poor audience that got a peek at my junk, but I was having fun ;)).

I'm sure some enjoyed it.

Some more than others, i'm sure. ;)

Why, you two will make a guy blush. :o

;)

Actually, none of the spectators commented on it afterward -- not to me anyway. But some of my fellow performers told me later that it was a topic of some conversation between them and their friends who had been in the audience. Hey, at least I got noticed.

Actually, I take a strange sense of pride in the whole matter, even though my exposure was accidental -- I like to call it my own personal "wardrobe malfunction". The first year, it caught everyone off-guard, but the subsequent year that we staged it, the advertisements specifically stated "18 and over only: This show contains vulgar language, sexuality, and potential nudity". That last part was added specifically because of me.

Yep, I like to think I've made a difference...

It's always good to - how shall I put this - bring something to the party. :rommie:

It's great to know that you've made a difference, in some small way. The world becomes a better place. :D

Small?!?! :( :( :(

;)

I'll be the judge of that. ;)

:p

:rommie:

I'm so used to looking at the avatar now instead of the name of the person who posted, that I thought that praetor's posts were some new person, because kirk's son wasn't there. I finally realized it was him, and was like, he should use his pic all the time. What I don't understand is why people would use actors that are uglier than them as their avatars. :)

I think that was a slightly hidden compliment. If so, thanks. :D

< I thought that I should go for a clean shaven look this weekend.

I miss the maniacal look, but you do look better sans beard. :D

I must say--having now reviewed this thread, I'm pleased with the amount of facial hair I'm seeing.

It makes me feel like a trendsetter. I was bearded, when bearded wasn't cool.

In fact, from the look of things, I was bearded before a lot of you were born.

Without knowing how old you are: yep. :p

But I was also surprised how many people have beards...

Ah, so this is why everyone has changed their avatar to themselves. I'm game, but I'm not taking a picture of myself because whenever I've tried that in the past I come out looking like an utter twonk, and the only picture of me on my PC is my old MSN avatar from many years ago.

<-- So here is a picture of me as a gay cowboy from halloween 06. Imagine me three years older now and not wearing my gf's clothing.

Ah, gay cowboy eh? So that's why I found that image of you appealing. Hey, at least people will know we're actually two different people now. :rommie:

'Utter twonk.' :rommie:

I gotta say, it's kinda weird posting here and seeing actual faces everywhere! This has really taken off, NCC-1701!

Hear, hear! Give NCC-1701 a round of applause!

I gotta say the biggest surprise for me was Misfit Toy. I had always thought Misfit Toy was a woman... I've had everyone else right so far.

You know, I actually didn't. I used to think Misfit Toy was female, though. I don't know why. (Please don't strike me down, great mod!)

Regular humans? Let's not get ridiculous. :p

I was trying to be diplomatic.

We are obviously all Vulcans, Romulans, and Cardassians. ;)

That quote kind of goes with your fabulous chapeau, Neroon.

I concur. And I hop on the picture bandwagon.

Looking good! And sparklely.

Seconded! :)

I've been playing around with a different picture of myself. Might introduce it later tonight if it works.

Alright... I've decided to retire Rocky Horror-Daneel (at least for now ) in favour of a somewhat more conventional pic. Now, I'm sure you'll all miss the photo of me dressed in woman's undergarments (;)), but I hope you'll be able to get used to this one.

I had a couple of Martinis last night... contemplating changing my av to reflect that...

Love it Trekkiedane! Now it's 'a drink as big as your head' thread

I changed my pic to something a little more revealing.

And I say, in the non-sleaziest way possible, that the women of TrekBBS have nothing, nothing to hide. Damned good looking! :techman:

Well kind sir :alienblush: Not to bad yerself, good to see you.

I'm convinced there's a limit to the amount of hair in my family, because the more kids I have, the more hair seems to disappear from my head!

That's because the 'heirs inherit the hairs' :guffaw: *More wine please...*

I concur with both parts :techman:

I've been playing around with a different picture of myself. Might introduce it later tonight if it works.

Hey Zee :). Yes as I've been deserted tonight I may have a little play too . So it's 'It's me on a weekend'...

There'll be no new pics from me - I have no batteries for my camera. And I can't be arsed anyway. I'm a lazy, lazy, man.

:D

<---- OK, I switched to a much more typical pose ... taken in a local winery rather than a foreign country. :)
