Why I refuse to ever watch this movie

Why are NEGATIVE opinions about this movie not welcome?

Has the TrekBBS become simply a "Star Trek Support Forum"?

I've seen more well received negative comments about President Obama on a Democratic Bulletin Board than I've seen about Star Trek here.

Thank you

If you think negative opinion is discouraged here, try the Voyager forum.

People have talked a lot about the good reviews of this movie.

I've seen many of the reviews.

MOST of the reviews seem to praise the film for its look, direction, action sequences, production values, et cetera.

In other words, Abrams made good use of 150 million dollars.

But be honest, most of the other Trek movies would probably be well reviewed if they had the equivalent of 150 million dollars to throw into production.
Could be, but I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make here.

I made point of boycotting this film, and do not regard it as being 'real' Star Trek canon. Established canon has been ignored, which is a slap in the face to decades of Star Trek fans. I know the story is an 'alterante timeline', and that tells me the Leonard Nimoy Spock could have been from an alternate timeline as well, and was not the 'real' Spock.
This film really bothers me- I'd rather see Star trek die gracefully, rather than be torn down and be repelaced with something inferior.
I will NEVER see this film, that would be showing disrespect to TOS cast and fans.
Good god, man! You deserve a medal. Or something. They should give you a medal. Or something.

Interesting most of the negative 'reviews' you lament people attacking on here seem to be like the one in the OP- from people who proudly proclaim that they havent even seen the film. :vulcan:

If you voice an opinion in public expect people to comment on it.
And since the vast majority seems to love the new movie, it is only logical that people will not agree with your opinions and will answer accordingly.

I personally don't care if people don't like it. But they should at least watch the goddamned thing first.

Look around this forum.

How well do you think a negative view of the movie would be received even if someone watched it two or three times first?

I guess it comes down to the real Trekkers vs the newbie trekkies.
Ive been a hardcore trekker since 1976, and know a turkey when I see it- this film is a turkey. If the newbies don't know what Star trek is all about, then i'm sure they'd like this canon-ignoring film.

I do NOT concider the new Star trek film to be canon.

You're likely to get a lot of people disagreeing with you, but it's a discussion forum. Grow up.

Personally, I won't go after anyone who has legitimate gripes. Which are only possible if you watch the fucking thing.

I honestly think that if they argued their point well enough, the review would be well-received. Even if it didn't change anyone's mind, it could produce some interesting debate.

The thing I've noticed about negative reviews, though, is that they are usually not very well thought-out, and they just come across as whiny and bitchy.

If it's intelligently written a lot better than when a new user starts a thread: "the movie sucks, I'm not going to watch it".

If people don't want anyone challenging or criticising their opinions they should probably set up their own message baord instead.
