...I'm not sure what to say to that other that whatthafudge?! It's always good to know theres someone running a shoddier website than my own.
 
There are very few websites out there with a more overstated sense of their own importance than the OG forums. And their attempts to ingratiate themselves with the BBC are pretty sad too.

I stopped posting there during the production of Series Two; when after someone posted a load of genuine spoilers to their usually vacuous Spoiler Forum they deleted them and threatened to ban anyone who reposted them because they didn't want to upset the folks in Cardiff.
 
Well, other than blatant flaming from some members, biased moderators who do nothing and a long list of other draconian actions... what's wrong with the OG/DWF boards?

Actually, they recently posted that they're no longer accepting patrons since they presently don't need the money. I didn't read anything about how that affects that policy of theirs that only paying members get on during "peak" times though.

Do you think the people who pay to use those forums are aware that the internet is full of places that people can discuss DW whenever they want for free?

I exagerate, of course, but the formus were closed to non-premium members for nearly a full day post-"Planet of the Dead." Which seems a bit silly, as they were only on "peak mode" for a few hours after "Journey's End," and there's no way that there was less fan consternation over "JE" than "PotD."

They does bring up an interesting thought I had not considered; would they keep a slot open for David Tennant by using 10.2 as a recurring villain? It would be a surprising choice, but it's viable given 10.2's actions at the end of season four. In effect, Tennant's 10.2 would become a variation on the Master.

On the face of it this isn't a terrible idea, but frankly the last think Smith needs is oh-so popular David Tennant still gurning around the place :guffaw:
 
yes I really am starting to wonder of Smith will ever come out of Davids shadow, did any of 5-7 come out better than Tom? in the UK I mean?

That was a completely different situation. Tom Baker's departure coincided with Doctor Who's slow crawl into decadence and oblivion. Peter Davison was able to inject new life into the role for a while, and John Nathan Turner managed to make the series last longer than it reasonably should have, but the end was inevitable.

By comparison, Matt Smith is stepping in a very popular and creatively healthy show. I'd say that in many ways, he is in Jon Pertwee's shows rather than Peter Davison's, if you get what I mean.

yes, its clear RTDs has done his time, but im not convinced that Tennant has over stayed his welcome yet.
 
Nah, I think Tennant has been the Doctor long enough. I think 3 seasons and a load of specials is probably about right for a Doctor's tenure these days. The last thing you want is a Doctor who stays too long and, in effect, becomes ingrained in the public perception as THE Doctor Who, as with Baker.

13 Episodes per year is hardly a lot for a tenure.
 
Tennant has been The Doctor in pretty much 50 episodes by the time he regenerates (13 episodes x 3 + 3 Xmas Specials + 4 2009 Specials + "Born Again", "Attack of the Graske", "Music of the Spheres", and "Time Crash"). That's a large volume for a short period of time, thus it seems like he's been around longer than he has, actually. I agree it's time for him to go. Go out on top. Don't wait until he's worn out the welcome. He leaves now, and we remember the enthusiastic Doctor Who fan who actually got to live the dream. I will always prefer Tom Baker in City of Death over Tom Baker in his final season... :techman:
 
You know, let's say Tennant were to continue to 2011; however, throw in the regeneration halfway through the season, rather than at the end of the season, via a multi-episode arc.
