Season one Remastered DVD's

T'Boggan

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
So I finally got the courage up to buy the first season remastered on regular DVD and after the initial WTF! response I am a Convert. The Picture quality and the soundtrack renewal and the FX shots are both luxurious and complementary to the original series. I have only watched WNMHGB and The Mantrap so far. If the rest are as good as this i will be selling the tricorder box versions and buying the Remastered 2 & 3. Cant wait to see " What are little girls made of" :shifty:

ps Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Couldnt see where else to post it.

I dont have a Blu ray player yet Im waiting till 200mhz lcd tvs get cheaper then Im getting a package. Could be a while.....

Well, when you finally get there you'll be very happy. I have a two and a half year old Pioneer plasma that was relatively new to the world of 1080p, so I'm enjoying some fantastic pictures but am feeling that I've no longer got the best, so I shall probably be looking to upgrade soon as well.

Exciting (and expensive) times for home cinema fans! :techman:

I'm sticking with my recordings of TOSR made off the TV broadcasts...until the 3-D converted versions come out. :p

I find you get very quickly used to the slightly higher picture quality and stop noticing it after 2 days. For this reason I will never upgrade to anything above 625 line tv and dvd quality as nothing is gained from it and is just a waste of money which could be better spent on more important things.

I bet if you re-read this post in 5 years you'd be wanting to upgrade.

Sounds like a personal problem.

I've went and got the first 2 seasons in the new 'tins'. Only watched The Man Trap so far, first impression from that was that the ship/planets look frighteningly fake. The picture quality was better than i've ever seen it though!

BTW, I swear I remember reading somewhere that there's yet another release of TOS dvds that has both the original 'untouched' versions as well as these remastered episodes - i'm guessing that's only on the mighty blu-ray?

Yep. And both versions are in high definition.

Trust me when I say that the DVDs look like poop compared to the blu-ray.

I can understand not wanting to upgrade yet, though. Plus it's not like these episodes were ever actually this clear when they first aired on TV. And no doubt formats will change again. But I can't see the original Trek ever being clearer than the blu-ray.
