My friend saw it last night... (spoiler free)

Candlelight

...and said it was great. There were two things that stood out that broke canon but it was very enjoyable. And she's a die-hard traditionalist trekkie (and seeing it with me today).

I'm seeing it tonight (8 hours to go!) so will post tomorrow.

I guess with everyone else... or is America still a day behind NZ/OZ?

^ It opens where I live (Ohio, US) on Friday, May 8th. I'm seeing it then.
I bought my tickets today as soon as they went on sale, and now I can't wait!

Oh, and I wish they wouldn't have taken down the spoiler free thread until May 8th.

My friend went to the midnight screening. Said there were a couple of empty seats but then again it is heading into winter here.

Will most likely be sold out tonight.

Huh. That sucks that they don't have it on Thursday. I'm surprised. I figured if three theaters were doing it in my little city, it'd be all over.

I don't know why they're not, but only starting Friday. That being said, the Rave which is south of us is doing it, but that's a 20 mile trip my mom can't make. If it were my friends and I sure, but it's not on this trip.

Hey from the reviews the word is this film will breath new life into the franchise. It doesn't get any better than that.

As far as I can tell all the Regal Theaters in the Albany, NY area and the one in Berkshire County are showing it Thursday.

I just hope good reviews and good word of mouth translates into good box office. I really want this version of Trek to be the one that 'breaks the stigma', so to speak.

If this film, with a high budget, big marketing campaign, and good press, doesn't win over the mainstream, then, dammit, I don't know what will.

Yeah. Our Danbarry theater showed The Simpsons two weeks late when it premiered, and they're a first run theater. The management there is generally... subpar.

I'll probably see it the second week it is out.

I don't want my money being part of the opening week gross.

Besides, watch it later and you can post a more measured, and reasonable review later.

Wow, that's amazing, J, I can't imagine that!

To make it more confusing, the sign on the cash register said "PreOrder Star Trek XI tickets premiering Thursday, May 8th!". I said, "I thought May 8th was Friday, to which the ticket vendor replies, "it is." I say, "The sign says Thursday May 8th", to which he replies, "Yeah?"

I decided to drop it.

:wtf:
Kids this is why you should stay in school

I'm going to see the movie tomorrow at 7. It can't be any worse than the Star Wars prequel movies. From what I have seen so far, it looks a lot better than those.

It almost feels like 1979 all over again.
