'It's not Leonard Nimoy', one of them said.

'It's not the same'.

Perhaps I was right when I said they should have used the trailer with Leonard Nimoy in it, in the UK?

Of course you were right because you know better than the marketing department for the film. I mean, seriously... that's a "duh" thing.

Unlike them, you have the foresight to understand that they should be marketing this movie to guys in their 50's instead of the 25 and under audience who have never even heard of Leonard Nimoy.

Because, of course, in order for the franchise to survive in needs to focus on the middle-aged because they represent the future generation of film goers.

You need to be patient with the old fucks...you'll see for yourself one day when you're that age.....one day they'll be getting rid of this crew because they'll all be old and used up and replacing them with new and "improved".... so have a little understanding and tolerance...and some people might not ever accept the change....and that's OK too!

This is true..... intolerance spans generations but it is more prevelant the older you are. Sorry but I don't think acceptance is soley based on "personality"...it's not as cut and dry as that.

You know something.... The last 20 years of my life have been Shatner/Nimoy (and the rest). I love TOS,I love Nimoy and the Shat, I've been watching since age 5 sitting on my fathers lap. That will never change.

But it still does not mean I can not accept the new crew and it still does not mean I want Shat/Nimoy in every movie until the sad day that they will die (we all do unfortunately at some point).

So, it's not like I just came to Star Trek. It's not that I don't understand the thinking proccess of those that are negative towards Trek XI.
Understanding however does not mean that I agree or that I will not criticize when I feel it's necessary.

Not for nothing, but this is the exact same shit that was going before the debut of TNG. The whiners have just gotten 20 years older. They were wrong then and by all indications they're wrong now. If TNG had taught them anything, you would think it would be take a step back and reserve judgment until you actually see it.
