Trek goes NASCAR

That paint job is pretty plain if you ask me, there should be an Enterprise on that hood.

The delta emblem was on the hood in dark blue. It would have been cool though if the top view of the Enterprise was the whole length of the top of the car.

Good thing they didn't do this for Back to the Future, the car would have vanished before the first turn..lol ;) Then reappeared at the end of the race to take the checkered flag.

I do like that idea but, for whatever reason, there's Enterprise on the left rear quarter-panel.

I just hope the crash isn't a bad omen.

Giving that it was Stremme and he was driving like an ass the whole race knocking into people it serves him wright for getting caught up in that wreck. I wouldn't call it a bad omen more than a over confident driver getting his dues. Happy birthday Kyle! Go Tony!!!!!!!!

Oh ans is it me or did the Bussard collectors look red to you guys?

And did you notice every reference the announcers made - especially Joy and Waltrip - was to TOS?

Well TOS is part of the popular culture, modern trek is not. Everyone knows Kirk, Spock, and Scotty.

DW is not a Star Trek fan and never has been. What he knows about Trek is what any non-fan knows. However, he knows a lot about racing. (Yeah, I can talk... he & dad grew up racing together.)
If only #24 had won!! GO JEFF GO!!!

And really the point of taking Trek back to its roots - non-fans can identify and recognize those characters. Kind of what I meant by my comment - none of them said Picard, Riker, etc.

And second the Jeff comment, at least Jeff got the points lead back - woohoo!!!

^ I agreed with your point about The Trinity of Trek being so recognizable. It is also nice to know that we have a few NASCAR fans on TrekBBS! It shows we are not ALL basement nerds. :rommie:

The #12 'Star Trek' Penske Dodge will be back this weekend. So, go see the movie for the 3rd, 4th or 5th time on Saturday afternoon, then come home and watch the Southern 500 at 7pm on Fox. Even if you're not a race fan, you won't be disappointed.

Of course, I'll be rooting for Juan Montoya -#42 Target Chevy.

I'm a Jeff Gordon fan, but I'll root for the #12... Hopefully the track too tough to tame will be kinder to The Enterprise than Richmond was...

First it was baseball, now my other favorite sport has gone Trek! The #12 Penske Racing/Star Trek Dodge Charger driven my David Stremme is currently racing at Richmond Intl. Speedway. Here's some pics!

One thing so awesome about the races in Ontario? The women love to wear those TIGHT ass blue-jeans that look worn from...well...you fill in the blank. CANT wait!!!
