Breaking: Disney partners with hulu

Boston Legal won't be on that list. Even when the show was on the air ABC wouldn't even have it on their own website!

Yes i take any chance I get to make fun of ABC for canceling Boston Legal.

Awesome! I wonder if they'll also have ESPN events. The ESPN360 player is terrible and I'd love to watch sports using hulu.

I don't get that. BL stopped being good two years ago. It's the only show that I ever got invested in that I just gave up on... happened in the middle of last season.

I just noticed ABC had updated their player. The only show I watched on the network was Lost, and I never missed it. But I watched all the episodes so far of The Unusuals, and it's certainly a lot better than the clunky one they had last year.

I just ran the latest Java update, and the ABC player stopped working on my machine. Restored back, and it works again, so ABC's webmasters & Java need to have a chat.

I hate ABC's player. It's impossible to watch a full show from across the room without a remote pointing device, or else you have to get up and "Click Continue" after every commercial break. And ABC.com doesn't have (that I know of) any way to automatically update you when there's a new episode to watch. You just have to know what night the show is on and remember to check the next day. And if there wasn't an episode one week and you didn't know it, you end up opening the main ABC site, which is obnoxious with its auto-playing commercials, opening the show's page which launches the player and takes forever to load, even on a 6mbps connection, and then arrive to find nothing to watch.

I am SO GLAD I'll be able to watch my ABC shows on Hulu soon! And with Disney jumping on board, maybe they'll make some of the old stuff available that I used to love growing up, something that ABC.com would never do because that's not really the goal of a network's main site. They want to promote their current shows, not make them look bad by offering all the old stuff for you to watch instead because it was better. ;)

ABC's player used to work for me, but about a year ago they got some wonderful new version and since then it hasn't worked, even on my nice new desktop.

Would be great for older shows too, like "Ducktales", or movies like "Something Wicked This Way Comes".

You know, there are so mailed old TV series, failed pilots, and stuff jsut sitting in the vautls of various studios. Maybe if some deal could be struck (some cheap bulk deal), some "servicable" tranfers of older shows and pilots could be put up, so they jsut don't rought away, and potentially gain a new audience.

Again... pretty sure it's a hardware issue

;)
Okay, I confess to being a tech-neophyte, but the fact that ABC.com's player works just fine with the previous version of Java, and not at all with the new one - that's an indication that my hardware is insufficient? You mean to run the new Java?

You just have to know what night the show is on and remember to check the next day.

Sounds so complicated. ;)
Well, compared to Hulu dumping it into my queue, yeah, it is. *chuckle* I confess, I really don't follow the TV schedules much anymore. I imagine Tivo users have the same leisure of ignoring the schedules and just watching what they want when they want. Hulu is like Tivo for your computer without the cheesy chimes every time you click on something.

Sorry, I just really love Hulu. :adore:

No, your hardware is an indication that your hardware is insufficient. I'm running the latest version of java too and the player runs like a dream for me (HD as well). The problem with older equipment is that developers don't give a shit if the software works with it or not. They "try" to make it backwards compatible but it ain't on the top of the priority list. Have you ever tried to play older games using Win95, Win98 or Win2000 compatibility modes on an XP or newer system? It's completely hit and miss.

This is part of what compelled me to upgrade and buy a new system. I was just sick and tired of this generation of software/websites/add-ons/plugins/applications being so damned inconsistent and I had to keep looking for a workaround for everything.

So I fel your pain, brother, but just expect that this is going to keep happening and it's going to be a complete pain in the ass until you get a new system.

 @ "brother" ;)

Thanks for the sympathy, but quite honestly, I haven't felt any signficant pain yet - probably because I DON'T play any games or use my computer for much besides office work, audio editing, and the occasional tv episode. I'm sure I will sometime soon feel the need to upgrade (not looking forward to Vista and the latest version of MS Office), but for now, I'm good. :techman:

Well, that's just embarrassing. File that under "don't let the avatar confuse you." By the same token, in real life my head is not shaped (much) like a baseball. :p

I started to notice it watching games on mlb.tv and their awful players and then I started having problems everytime I woulddo a so-called "update." Drove me up a wall.
