Vulcan hairstyles

As I understand it, and I may be completely wrong, Kim Catteral suggested her haircut for TUC as it would show off her ears.
Perhaps later designers simply (and unimaginatively) copied her.

Please forgive me, but this is the sorriest looking Vulcan I've ever seen!

Normally, she is a very attractive person.

There are exceptions in later Trek shows, too, though possibly not very many of them. (I just can't remember.) The two exceptions I know of right off hand are Tuvok of VOY and T'Pel in TNG's "Data's Day." T'Pel was actually a Romulan pretending to be a Vulcan, but while she was a Vulcan, she wore a couple of different headdresses rather than the Vulcan moptop. There might be a moptop under there, but somehow...I kind of doubt it. You'll see why once you see her:

And if you want to know how I happen to know this, it's because I used her as an avatar for a while. I'm geeky, but not quite geeky enough to know all that on demand.

Agreed 100%! Kim Cattral has always been a hottie, but in TUC she was fugly as hell.
