Sorry but I refuse to let you deprive me of my tantrums! Besides I'm sure there's going to be plenty of fresh new tantrums starting May 7th....
Well I'm lovin Jimmy Kimmel right now...! He really gave it to him good !! JJ took it all in stride and was a good sport...and he came out with a few good retorts. He probably wanted to kill him for bringing up Shatner.....
I find if humorous that JJ said he needed to be "consistent" with keeping old Kirk dead -- so it's really that they need to be consistent only where they want to be...that term seems to be fluid.
He may of said at the end that he was beholden to Trek fans but at the beginning...right off the bat he said he didn't make this movie with trek fans in mind...was that necessary...did he have to say that? NO he didn't...he could of said that this is a movie is for everybody...both Trekkers and non-trekkers alike...and perhaps he has said that elsewhere etc...he needs to show respect for us...I'm sorry but we are going to be the ones filling the theaters opening weekend, and from what i've read on this board, quite a few of you are going to multiple showings...
In the end I MAY like this movie...but I just don't like this JJ guy and if I were him I'd ask Felicity to be dropped from the resume, ....I mean LOL Felicity!

He did say that actually. He said Star Trek fans could watch it but basically he was commissioned by the studio to make it for moviegoers! Grow up already, Paramount does NOT make movies for YOU!
BTW JJ is a hero for not including Shatner.

I'm not commenting on what he did with the film or if Shat is in it or not......I'm just commenting on his comments which seem to conflict.....especially the one that I underlined....what does consistent really mean then???

I expect the film to be fun but not great storytelling... but who cares? After ENT and VOY, and two awful movies, how can we claim that anyone is going to ruin Star Trek?

Yes he did. The movie is being aimed at movie goers in general, Non-trekkies need to know that they can come in and have a fun movie experience.

Well we'll just have to disagree on this one...I think he could of been completely INCLUSIVE of everyone by instead saying: I made this movie for everybody...whether you are a Trek fan or not. I mean the majority of asses filling the seats next weekend are going to belong to whom?? I think Trek fans...if anyone else disagrees (or shit I'll take an agree here an there) please speak out.

Sorry but if you ask me JJ comes across as a total goof! I sure as hell wouldn't want a director who isn't a fan of Superman for example to make a Superman movie, same thing goes for Star Trek. Also whats up with a Brewery turned into an engine room of a starship?
