Toys out early!

Is young Spock's head supposed to come off? Do the newly rebooted Vulcans have detachable heads in this movie? I didn't see that in the trailer.

While I already picked up the Enterprise by Playmates, it turns out they are making a smaller version: http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MTP8509

Instead of Playmates however, it's a Hot Wheels release with some die cast metal. The Enterprise (TOS movies), Enterprise-D and Reliant are out now. I was sorely tempted to pick them up except I already own the AA Enterprise (TOS movie) and about three or four Micro Machine Enterprise-D's, Reliants AND the Furuta versions. :p I think that's part of the reason I was so excited to get the new Enterprise. It was a starship I was excited about and didn't already own at least 2 versions of!

^ I hope they have the scale wrong on that site - 1:50th scale?!?!?!?!?
As has been pointed out several times before, the "1:50th scale" thing is a detail apparently pulled out of thin air and should be disregarded. The die-cast ships are each about four inches long.

Yeah, they do.

Kirk goes to Vulcan and has to walk through a forest where he meets a bunch of Vulcan hermits. Upon talking to them, they break into song and start singing Chilly Down from Labrynth, taking off their heads, kicking them around and seperating body parts.

For any folks out there who plan to collect, I saw the toys out on the shelf today at Toys R Us in Virginia. I'm not planning on getting any, but for those who are, it might be worth an extra trip to the toy aisle in the coming week.

We have a feature shop display of Star Trek XI toys in front of our store here in South Bend. It's nice to see Star Trek up front for a change instead of always seeing Star Wars :shifty:

Or, as a lot of TRUs tend to do, posters for who cares? video games only little kids give a shit about.

Ain't that the truth! HAHA!

And how long has it been since there's been an Enterprise toy on the open market with an original design? The Art Asylum NX-01 was popular at first but then sales ground to a halt.

Was that around the time of AA's 3rd version? And what about the 5th TOS Enterprise coming out? It's crazy, even though I know they still sell decent numbers.

the Hot Wheels ships are very cool. even though i have a bunch of various micro machine, art asylum, and johnny lightning ships i just can't resist. i also found the Hot Wheels Bird of Prey. only one i didn't see was the NU Enterprise.

Re: XI toys...

I got my STAR TREK bridge set...with most of the dolls. Those tricky devils. You have to get each doll seperately in order to get the bridge consol they use as well...all I have left to get are UHURA and NERO...then next week I'll get the Transporter set...

Rob

According to the bridge set I saw at the store, you have to buy SIXTEEN figures to get all the parts you need to finish the bridge, and most of the figures haven't even been released yet.

How did you get all of them already?

I don't think the new movie Enterprise has been released yet. The initial wave is just the 4 ships (Ent-A, Ent-D, Reliant and Bird-of-Prey).

anybody see these figures made by barbie? reading old news from December, they were supposed to come out the end of April for around $42 or so. i'm not a toy collector but i think these are neat.

Hey, no spoilers allowed!

Search ebay for Trek Barbie, and some folks do have these, and the pics look like they have them in hand. I haven't seen them in stores yet, maybe they're due by next week or something.

My daughter wants Uhura from this series, so I'm going to keep tabs on the price, see if I can get one for lower than the retail price.

Yeah, I know but it's nice to see Star Trek toys there for a change...

Yeah, TREK toys have gotten the short end of the stick for most of my life and took a distant backseat to STAR WARS and other much more successful franchise toy and collectible lines.
