Goodbye, old friend.

My cat Chester passed away today. He was only 10, but had suffered from a chronic sinus infection his whole life. We found him at the shelter presumably because his original owners couldn't deal with his condition. Well, we were up to the challenge and we took care of him as well as we could. He would get flare ups here and there but overall he lead a healthy and vibrant life.

Recently, however, he began to stop eating and his sinus condition got worse. The vet couldn't seem to explain why he wasn't eating but could only relate it to some sort of stress. We took him to a specialist vet to find out what was wrong, and their only treatment option was to feed him and get his weight back up. We started force feeding him this past week and hoped to see an improvement, but unfortunately it wasn't enough.

Chester passed away today while sleeping on the couch in our living room. My only hope is that we gave him a good life while he was with us, because he gave us a lot of great memories.

Rest in peace, "Chedder"

Ah dude, that sucks. :( He looked like such a sweet little guy. Judging from those pictures he was a very happy cat and had a good life. You done good.

RIP Chester.

*SIGH* My condolences are with you. I've lost one cat in my life, and never before or since have I been so shaken up. My current cat is 11 and I've just begun to realize there are fewer days ahead than behind for him.

Rest assured that Chester knew he was loved.

Thanks, that means a lot, even if it did make me cry more. The funny thing is, I cry, then my nose gets stuffy, and then I try to breathe...and end up sounding just like him when he would have flare ups of his condition, which just makes me cry more.

I've never taken it this hard losing a pet, and I've lost a dog and two cats so far in my life. I guess he was just special to me. Well, scratch that. He is special to me.

My condolences, I know how hard it is to lose a cat but I can't imagine how hard it to lose an extra special cat.

My extra special cat is Miss Chicken who is also 10 years old. I know that her death when it comes will hit me very hard, much harder than any pet I have ever owned.

Sorry to hear that, Flux. :( I know what it's like to lose pets, and I know what it's like to lose an extra-special pet. But you saved him from his unhappy beginnings and gave him a good life-- he lived longer and was much happier because of you. :)

RIP, Chester. :(

The picture with Chesters canine friend make it clear that he did indeed live a good life.

I hope the pain of loss passs quickly for your family, and that the fond memories of all the good times linger well into your old age.

You should remember that you took a special needs kitty in and gave him a much longer and happier life than he would ever have dreamed of having.

RIP. :(
