The murder of a Marine brings McGee and Gibbs to Los Angeles for a joint investigation with the NCIS office of special projects; Tony looks into Ziva's personal life.

^ That's an awesome pic of the NCIS team, Aragorn.

And I'm glad it's finally time for the pilot for NCIS: Legend. Looking forward to seeing what this new crew is all about.

Holy crap, Pauley Perrette is hot as hell in that cast pic.

Hopefully this new NCIS team doesn't suck. The casting of Chris O'Donnell actually intrigues me more than it worries me--he must have brought something to the role that impressed TPTB, because otherwise I can't see him getting this type of gig. I already like LL Cool J, so no worries there.

Execellent setup for whatever is going to hit the fan next week...
I suspect Chris O'D. is actually playing The Bad Guy.

I doubt that Chris is since he is going to be in the spin-off as part of the team as I understand. Just don't see them doing that.

I wasn't impressed with part 1. I wasn't really looking forward to the spinoff anyway. What I like most about NCIS is the chemistry between the characters. So far it doesn't look like they've caught lightning in a bottle again but I'll wait for part 2 and the first episode of the new show before I give up on it.

I took it as he was a Legend: a deep cover operative that they used to become whoever they needed him to be. It goes with the description of the character that they gave back when the series was announced (that he was essentially a shape shifter with his ability to adapt).

Besides if he were the bad guy Gibbs' gut would have told him so and they wouldn't have hung out at the pier for so long. Gibbs would have arrested him, case closed.

I read on TVGuide that the Season Finale will have a major impact on their relationship.

So how many of these characters are supposed to be in the spinoff? We have O'Donnell, LL Cool J, the boss, the hot chick, undercover guy #2, overanalytical specialist and nerd at the computer.

Seven characters sounds about right.

Special Agent G. Callen - Chris O'Donnell
Special Agent Sam Hanna - LL Cool J
Special Agent in Charge Lara Macy - Louise Lombard
Operational Psychologist Nate "Doc" Getz - Peter Cambor
Special Agent Kensi Blye - Daniela Ruah
Tech Operator Eric Beal - Barrett Foa

This is kind of my take as well. As much as I like NCIS I never felt the desire for a spinoff.

And I'm not a big fan of the election day news coverage interface that they used. I think it irked me more that McGee kept remarking on it (certainly in character for him, though). It was like they were trying to tell us how cool the new tech was, and any tech I've seen employed by CNN first, and later on the Daily Show, isn't so advanced.

I liked Chris O'Donnell and his character. Has a bit of mystery to him. But I REALLY do not like that Director, and the jury is still out on the rest of that cast.

Like someone upstream said, the best thing about NCIS - the thing that separates it from every other cop procedural on TV - is the near flawless chemistry of that entire cast. Never has a cast not only fit together well, but complemented each other well. That will be extremely tough to recapture.

Obviously, it's too early to tell on this new cast, but I certainly didn't feel it last night when I watched this episode. Not even a little bit.

The story was pretty good. But so far, I'm not really caring about these new characters except O'Donnell's, and his probably only because I know him from other stuff.

In part one, O'Donnell's character is the only one who had any character. The director's entire characterization so far is just that she has a bad history with Gibbs.

At least with this CBS spinoff, we don't have the star going:

"Has my deep cover been blown... (puts on sunglasses) ...or am I too deep?"

YYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!

Though casting a CSI alum as the Director was an interesting decision...

Special Agent in Charge Lara Macy - Louise Lombard

Guess we won't be seeing her on CSI anytime soon...not that I've been watching since they've replaced Grissom with Morpheus.

I voted average. As a backdoor pilot, I'm not yet convinced I should devote an hour a week to watching.
