Excellent - the Peter/Hiro Nerf Modifier = Above average. Though it did have some problems.

Not liking what they've done with Sylar, though I suppose it's one way to get rid of him for a while so they can have a new villain without doing what they normally do - i.e. push the panic button and take his powers away.

The plot hole with Claire not using her blood was just dumb.

The now seemingly permanent nerfing of Hiro means they may as well not bring him back next season. In addition, there's no reason to suspect that Peter took anything other than Sylar's shapeshifting so he's not "back". Peter's cuts and bruises did not heal.

What Matt did to Sylar won't suppress his other abilities. What happens when he cuts his finger ?

Some people need to reset their thought patterns here.

I thought it was crap, that says enough for me.

That's not Tracy, it's the third triplet, Barbara...mark my words.

What I noticed is Syler did not take the ability to fly from Nathan. So what does that do first time he tries in his new life?

Yes he did, he flew in through the window. Listen very carefully and you'll hear the sound Nathan makes when he flies.

Remember, Sylar can take powers without killing people if he chooses.

JUMP. THE. SHARK.

Poor.

This show is officially "The Sylar Show"... - Or perhaps more accurately "The Sylar Idiot Hour". I'm just so tired of it. Right now I have no interest in watching the next "volume".
Amen!!!

You couldn't get any more lame than the burning the body like Darth Vader at the end. I expected Billy Dee Williams to come walking out of the shadows w/ Chewbacca to start the Ewok celebration.

It's funny that all the posts are so negative (and rightly so!) yet the poll at the top of the page gives it a 68% above average/excellent rating. More people need to vote :D

Yes, he did. Sylar flew before finishing off Nathan.

It was a rather poor episode, I have to say. Started good, and then went rather down.

Why would Hiro's mind not be able to handle his power or reject it for that matter? Why is no one else's mind rejecting their power? Why would his mind be able to handle stopping time, teleporting across the globe and through time, without problem and now suddenly be unable to handle just one of those abilities? Hell; Sylar, his father, Peter, and his father could handle power after power after power without any trouble, the last two including all of Hiro's time abilities - so why did their minds never reject the power and blow up?

And what's with not using Claire's blood to save Nathan? Noah had a bullet through the brain and was dead much longer and her blood still healed and revived him. So what's with this Sylar replacing Noah bullshit?

^I just felt the overall entertainment value of the episode overrode some of the more obvious problems.

Hiro used to do a lot more than freeze time and never had a problem. Then Arthur took his power away and Matt Jr gave a portion of it back. Arthur's ability removed Hiro's ability to cope with his own power, that's my guess.

Re: Heroes 3x25 "An Invisible Thread" Discuss and Grade (SEASON FINALE

I love that so many people are calling for the use of Claire's blood. If they HAD used the blood, there'd still be uproar and bitching cos everyone hated that plotline from the off. The show can't win either way.

And I thought it was pretty apparent Sylar had taken Nathan's power just as he did the shape-shifting - it's apparently quicker than chopping up the head anyway.

Overall average at any rate. This body swap stuff is just crap. I severely doubt I'll watch next season. Oh joy Ali Larter's back in the form of Hydro Man. Fucking A.

That only proves that that the more negative people are more vocal than the people that voted. :)

Re: Heroes 3x25 "An Invisible Thread" Discuss and Grade (SEASON FINALE

It's down to 58% now... better! Yeah Hiro's abrupt lethal power less is pretty ridiculous as well. Yes he was over-powered but they solved that when Arthur took away his time travel and teleportation and now he can only freeze. That's perfectly fine. Better yet if he can only freeze for a minute or something like that.

Re: Heroes 3x25 "An Invisible Thread" Discuss and Grade (SEASON FINALE

I assumed that, seeing as Sylar's shape-shifting ability requires him to sample and incorporate the DNA of the person he's mimicing, whenever he does mimic a person with an ability, he gets the ability too, as it is part of their DNA.

If you don't like that explaination, then another way he could have gotten it is by empathizing with Nathan, in a similar way to how he gained Elle's ability. In the process of "becoming" Nathan, and talking to him, as well as learning Nathan's history through the objects in his office, he could have learned to empathize with him, and gained the ability to fly that way.

Either way, Sylar flew in this episode.

As for how Peter has been left; I don't think that, as some have suggested, he has all of Sylar's abilities. I think he was only able to get one of them, which is why he picked the shape-shifting one - it was the best one to use to defeat Sylar. I thought this was made pretty clear by Peter's line; "I bet you didn't think I'd take that one, did you?". His reasoning being that Sylar probably thought he'd go for the lightning or the telekenisis instead - something that Peter could use to actually engage Sylar in a fight. Instead, Peter used his brains this time. So I don't think we have to worry about Peter going mental, or being overly powered-up, or anything like that. He'll just be able to shape-shift until he overwites it with another ability.

Dunno what's up with Hiro, thought. Obviously it's a consequence of having his power removed and then partially returned. I am actually quite interested in finding out what the deal is with that.

Not entirely sure what I think about the whole Sylar-is-Nathan thing. I mean, it was certainly interesting and unexpected. They can't kill Sylar for the same reason they can't kill Claire (unless, of course, they find another Arthur who could remove their powers and make them mortal), so they kinda have to do something with him. I think it will make for an interesting story as the Sylar-personality starts to creep back in.
I also like the idea of the two personas battling for dominace. Regardless of whether the real Nathan is dead or not, the persona in Sylar's head is still very real from a psychological point of view. As has been pointed out, all Sylar ever really wanted was to be, well, wanted. Living as Nathan, he'll get that. That would only serve as a way of strengthening the Nathan persona, and would make it harder for Sylar's real persona to fully assert itself. Sort of like schitzophrenia.

Still, I can't wait to see the reaction when Peter (and probably Claire) finds out.

They didn't solve anything by doing that. They just held up a sign that read "We're idiots who don't know how to write a show about people with superpowers".

They should let someone like Brian Michael Bendis run this show.

Servo - as I said earlier, Peter clearly only took the shape shifting. He has visible wounds when he leaves the room with Claire that do not heal up. He's still got cuts when he's at Sylar's "funeral" at the end.

Re: Heroes 3x25 "An Invisible Thread" Discuss and Grade (SEASON FINALE

It has been much worse. It was better than most all of season 2.

Re: Heroes 3x25 "An Invisible Thread" Discuss and Grade (SEASON FINALE

Until they find out he's Sylar, then it's done. There's nothing inside Sylar to battle for possession of his body or identity. There is no Nathan, only a false mask. An inanimate object. It can't fight for anything. There's not going to be a battle. There's not going to be Nathan 2.0. There's nothing left to be Nathan 2.0. "Nathan" is a post hypnotic suggestion left by Matt. The person in Sylar's head doesn't exist. Once Sylar remembers, he's Sylar again 100 percent.

Maybe they'll build up to another incredibly disappointing, non existent fight between Peter and Sylar. From which Sylar will escape, of course.

I know, I read it the first time. Am I not allowed to echo or expand upon a point that someone has already made now?
