His second wife, Heather, actually is a Canadian from the latter city. Urich attended Florida State University on a football scholarship. In 1968, he earned a bachelor's degree in Radio and Television Communications. While attending, he joined Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He went on to Michigan State University after working in Ohio to earn a master's degree in Broadcast Research and Management. Urich was first married to actress Barbara Rucker (1968–74).[1] He later married actress Heather Menzies [2] in 1975, and they remained married until his death in 2002. Heather Menzies Urich had played one of the von Trapp children, "Louisa," in the film version of The Sound of Music with Julie Andrews. Urich and Menzies adopted three children, Ryan, Emily and Allison. Like her husband, Menzies also battled cancer, and is an ovarian cancer survivor. She works with the Robert and Heather Urich Fund for Sarcoma Research at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center.

I love Delroy Lindo, but never really saw him a Starfleet captain. But he's a very good actor, real versatile, so maybe.
Angela Bassett has been my choice for a long time now to play a Starfleet captain. I think she would have made a great Archer. I just read recentely that Bryan Fuller also likes her for a captain role in the new Trek show he is pitching or has pitched.
I think Dennis Haysbert would be a great choice. Always thought Jason Patric had potential as a captain type character.

Dennis Haysbert would be a good choice. I had been thinking about Jason Patric, but I didn't put him on my list. I think Laurence Fishburne, Joe Morton, and CCH Pounder would make awesome captains as well. Perhaps Phil Morris, a longtime Trek vet, would make a good captain too.
Ever since I heard that Linda Hamilton had been considered for Janeway, I wondered what she would be like in the captain's chair.
About Angela Bassett, I also think it's cool that Bryan Fuller is considering her. She has gravitas, beauty and toughness.

Don Cheadle and Gary Sinise would also make great captains. maybe not for a series, but perhaps as guest spots or in films.
I agree. I thought he came off stronger than Bakula did in "First Flight." He was the type of captain the show needed.
Scott Bakula was part of the reason ENT failed.
He just didnt work as Archer.
Even Bruce Greenwood (in what little time he had in Trek IX) gave me a better Archer vibe than Scott.
