and now some wild speculation on my part

The Sarah Conner Chronicles dead, and not the kind of dead that it means it can still air on the CW, Scrubs & Privilaged

Reaper is sadly gone, even though it doesn't deserve to be. Wrong genre on the wrong channel.

Life was great, but its was at the bottom of NBC shows ratings which means they were awful.

There's so much speculation and just rumors about Chuck that it's impossible to know anything for sure. Same thing with Medium. The insane fan drive for renewal, and the press it's gotten, has helped a lot.

I hope NBC keeps Medium, always been a fan of that show

It gets good ratings by NBC standards. Sadly, it's got alot going against it. It's co-owned by Lifetime. And NBC only renewed it last season so they wouldn't get the broadcast rights. It's getting expensive to make as well and it's primarily watched by an older audience, not the right demo that networks want. It's fans are also not nearly as passionate about it as Chuck fans are.

didnt know about the Lifetime thing, and yeah I guess the older fan base means its gets less buzz on the trendy websites than Chuck

They could revamp Medium into something that would attract a broader audience fairly easily. Have an extremely powerful demon ravage Albuquerque with an army of evil ghosts, killing Joe and forcing Allison to retreat with her children to the safety of a Tibetan monastery, then time-jump ahead 3 years, with Allison and Ariel, now fully-trained warrior nuns with shaved heads and facial tattoos returning to New Mexico to confront the forces of evil.

Nah. They already did that on Heroes this season. :D

You forgot the part where everyone trades off being good and evil every other episode.

^ I hope that you are kidding

It would be a substantially more accurate depiction of the real Allison Dubois's exploits than what we have now.

And besides, one of the big problems with Medium's current formula is that Allison never kills anyone. The show needs more action centering around the protagonist. Allison needs to start using weapons, or developing her psychic powers into something deadly.

FOX

Axed: Prison Break, Do No Disturb, MadTV & King of the Hill

Renewed: The Simpson's & American Dad

Still no word on Dollhouse, I see. Not really holding out hope, but I've been wrong before.

Fox has got to realize at this point what a ratings black hole Fridays are. No show is going to do well there.

Indeed. Wasn't it the Friday night at 10:00 spot where the original Star Trek was left to die?

Dollhouse seems very unlikely at the moment, just not officially axed yet.

Yeah, that's what I figured. At least we get Alan Tudyk as a guest star next week.

My mother and father are both kinda bummed, 'cause they've been watching both Dollhouse and Kings. Ouch. Add to that the cancellation-free end of Battlestar Galactica's brilliant four-year run, and my parents have had to say goodbye to a lot of good TV in the last month or two. :(

It's the Friday Night Death Slot.

Pretty much any show on Friday night at any time isn't going to pull in viewers. The only show(s) I know of to buck this trend is ABC's "TGIF" lineup but I think that was mainly due to ABC heads not having high expectations.

Fox is the worst on Fridays. Their lofty goals for every show they air coupled with their impatiences when a show isn't a run away hit. She should just air movies from their 20 Century/Fox library and give up. Hell, all the networks should air movies from their respective movie houses. They'd save money.

Dallas was a ratings king in the Death Slot.

Indeed. the target demo has shifted since then.

Squig is right. The channels should just make Fridays something like "friday night films" or "Movie night" and tap into their partner film studio's catalog.

I mean, CW has access to WB and Paramount films.
ABC has access to Disney films.
NBC has access to Universal films.
CBS has access to Paramount and Viacom films.
Fox has access to fox films...

It would be a hell of a lot better than what they do now...

That or completely buck the trend and team up with Tivo to do a joint programing block aimed at people who Tivo the shows to watch at a later date. That would be interesting.

It's funny, the current economy trouble could be good for Friday night programming. With more and more people staying home to save money...who knows?

Of course, in a few years when DVR penetrate deeper into the market it won't really matter what's on when.
