Supernatural 4x19 "Jump the Shark" spoiler discussion thread

Heads up! Heads up! There's a new episode of Supernatural airing tonight. It's called "Jump the Shark." Yes, that is Cousin Oliver's Diner they're eating at in one of the preview clips when they're talking to 19 year old Adam Milligan. I may well have to DVR it and watch later so I wanted to get the thread started now; I have to work some overtime since my lovely ex-husband took his income to live with his pregnant girlfriend with the HUGE ankles who isn't so sexy anymore. Yes, I can finally laugh about it. I've finished crying. Can't even stick him with spousal support since he knocked her up with twins. You can't get blood from a turnip. :rommie: Or, as the brothers' Winchester would say, "a dick.":guffaw:

My computer is once again wheezing and gasping, so don't be surprised if I'm not back to discuss this evening. So, is Adam a real Winchester? I suspect he is. I also suspect he'll be worm food, but I've read no spoilers to that point.

Here's an interview with Jensen, Jared, and Misha from Australian television at the con. God, those three are funny as hell.

This i why i think Dean is a real jerk most of the time... hope Sam kicks his ass when they fo at it later in the season...

I don't know if it was just my TV but this episode was so dark I could barely see what was happening.

But I liked how they got around having a brother but not having to deal with having a brother. Next weeks ep looks really good.

I think this episode effectively demonstrates that the John Winchester parenting method is substantially better than it appears to be. All things being equal, a little obsessive neurosis is substantially better than being eaten by ghouls, probably.

True... Now I understand why the producers kept saying we didn't have to worry about his brother showing up in any episodes of the future.

I liked it. It wasn't great by any means, but it was a solid little stand alone, one that really got to dig into both brothers.

As for the idea of a "lost" sibling, I have never thought it a bad idea. After all since Dean based so much of his life around John's example, I never thought John would be a monk. Just like it wouldn't surprise me (and I actually almost wish it happened) there could very well be many little Dean's out in the world.

I loved Dean (who family is everything) was PISSED off big time that John might have had a another son. And insult upon insult he actually bonded with the boy (that had to HURT).

There are two things I did want to see happen in this episode and didn't and I am very, very upset one of them didn't and they are:

1. I kind of wanted to see Sam try and control the Ghouls after they had some demon blood in them. Just to see him try and see if it would work.

2. I really wanted to see Sam after being bandaged by Dean go for that bowl and drink. I am a little (okay) a lot pissed that didn't happen.

Since my local affiliate doesn't show next preview, Thanks to press releases I know that Dean does discover Sam's addiction. I hope next episode addresses this since they left themselves a perfect place to see Sam truly desperate for a fix.

yeah im surprised he didn't use his telekenesis, he could have single handedly dismantled them like they were nothing, i thought it was a good episode though, although the photoshop jobs however were not. cant wait for next week!

Sam has stated that his abilities (at the time) only worked on demons. Based on this I must assume that still holds.

but he was able to move a dresser/cabinet with his mind in season 2, surely he could have thought of some other piece of furniture to move or untie himself

Apparently they don't. The TEN correspondent was pretty happy to fawn over the thrillsome threesome. I'm in the half of the female fandom that isn't bat shit nuts thank you very much. The problem is that this show gets rid of its great female characters: Nicki Aycox as Meg, Samantha Ferris as Ellen, Alona Tal as Jo after they fixed her in "Born Under a Bad Sign," Katherine Isabelle as Ava, and Katie Cassidy as Ruby (though that was budget cuts). Yeah, it was tacky of the reporter to go there, but oh well. Apparently Jensen really pissed off some chickie at the con last week who asked if he liked Genevieve Cortese or Katie Cassidy better at a Q&A session. Then someone at the con was asking that his girlfriend Daneel Harris be removed because....well because she exists. Some of the faithful are getting a tad over the line at these cons. :wtf: Ackles put on a polite game face about the whole incident, but you have to wonder what he's thinking if he were totally honest, you know? "Crazy broads" is probably the PG version.

I liked this episode. Sam is getting fatalistic and myopic, no? :alienblush: I like how Padalecki brings the scary vibe to him. Sam's powers didn't work because they only work on demons--and because his hands were bound. That bit with the dresser way back when in season one was a burst of adrenalin because he saw Dean die in the vision. Sam didn't actively summon the power to move it. Remember Dean asked him to bend the spoon to demonstrate and Sam told him it didn't work that way. Also, Sam hasn't had a "fix" in a while. He gets "flabby" when he doesn't drink. Ruby said so. He started sucking big time after "Criss Angel is a Douche Bag," which is why he could take down Alistair, when he couldn't do so in earlier episodes.

I loved Dean (who family is everything) was PISSED off big time that John might have had a another son. And insult upon insult he actually bonded with the boy (that had to HURT).

That's Dean at his core. He'll protect his family. Had the real Adam called him in time, Dean would have stepped up to the plate. I can't completely hate John for sheltering the boy. Adam's life hadn't been touched by supernatural forces and John (naively) was hoping it never would. Dean understood where his dad was coming from with that, but John is dangerously close to toppling off that pedestal for good. Dean's "You can take it however you like" to Sam at the end doesn't bode well. That's some serious anger in Dean--but at least he's back to the point where he can get angry.

Castiel's back next week. I think Dean does finally discover that Sam's addicted, mswood. Thanks for the comfort. Men aren't pigs. Unfortunately, my ex-husband is, though. What can you do? You choose to live or to die. I picked myself back up and decided to let go--though that's a process.

I thought Sam would try and use his abilities because he naturally has a demonic element to his blood. I do wonder if he really needs his hands or if that is just a focusing tool for him.

But come on, if he was running low (as you suggest) certainly he would have wanted to drink his own supply back into his system.

So. How you doin'? ;)

I'm not sure if the demon blood thing is much more than a crutch. Demons don't have blood, he's drinking the blood of the human host. It may have somehow been transmogrified by the possession, but I doubt it.
