Abram's Enterprise, Version 4

Frakkin' amazing, top work!

You wouldn't happen to do fan renderings of ships from other shows such as BSG or anything like that would you?

I plan to, eventually. :)

I want to get this one finished, and then I want to build a space station to go with it.

I've been watching Babylon 5 for the first time, and I'm thinking of building some of the stuff from that. :)

I built a Galactica a few years ago, but quality wise, it's nowhere close to this. I might take a stab at it again one day... it's too bad they ended it the way they did...it kind of sours me on even thinking about it. :)

I have to admit, this Enterprise is finally starting to grow on me and watching you progress with your model has a lot to do with it... although I still am having a really hard time getting past that truncated secondary hull, oversized deflector dish and ginormous warp nacelles.

Thanks. :)

I think the only main thing I don't like about the actual model is the way the bridge dome looks. I'm not sure if I'm going to make mine match, or make it subtly different.

Here's my progress up until now...

I think the Engine Domes are done. I guess I can call them Bussard Collectors, since that's what the toy box says. :)

I'm going to head over to the shuttlebay doors, now. Update coming soon...

Hey Madman1701A,
In response to your mention of doing the space station next, have you looked at the image under "The Federation" in the dossiers on startrekmovie.com? The other ships shown in that image are very interesting. They seem to use some of the early layouts of Enterprise that Matt Jefferies proposed.

Yep, that's what's prompted me to take a second crack at it.

I hope we get some close ups of those other ships at some point as well... I wouldn't mind building a few of those, either. I won't be lacking in source material, anyway. I bet I could have all that stuff built by the time the sequel comes out, when they change everything. :)

Tonight's update...

I think all the modeling is done, and I did most of the lighting as well. I also got all the decals applied.

So, I'll be texturing starting tomorrow night. I'm sure I will find small things to fix on the way, also. :)

Speaking as someone who has never been able to do texturing, I envy you. Do you actually draw each bitmap in a painting program yourself or do you have a program that has some kind of function that generates random square panels like that?

Having said that, in the last 2 images i think your lighter colored panels have too much yellow. it reminds me more of cobblestone than metal.

Well, on this one, I did it a little differently than normal. I took a generic hull panel texture that I have (I got a CD of generic scifi type textures a while back), tweaked it some to add the lines between each panel, then took it into blender and used that to make it a repeating round type of pattern. Then I took it back to photoshop to make the texture of it. :)

Yellow? That's odd, since there is absolutely no yellow i the image, or shouldn't be. I did a desaturate on the original image, and it should be shades of blue and grey.
