Alternate Realities DVD set - anyone have it? Problems with "Twilight"

I just got it for my birthday, and one of the reasons I wanted it was to listen to the audio commentary for Twilight. However, it doesn't work...and neither do the closed captions...but just for that episode.

Is this a known problem, and is there a solution? Or could I have a defective DVD?

I have the regular ENT dvd set; so I know nothing about that. sorry can't help ya.

I have the the Alternate realities set and didn't have any problems listening to the alternate realities commentary.

I haven't opened my Region 1 set from America yet, but I recently wrote a review based on the Region 2 available to buy in the UK and Europe.

That has no commentaries, despite mentioning them on the sleeves. I got this response from Paramount Home Entertainment UK:

Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention.

After investigating this query I can confirm that the audio commentaries are not included on the UK version of Star Trek: Alternate Realities and this incorrect information appeared on the inner sleeves due to a print error. On the other hand the content information included on the outer slipcases is correct as there is no mention of commentary.

Please be informed that we’ve already contacted our Printer and this mistake will be corrected immediately.

Once again thank you very much for contacting Paramount Home Entertainment UK and please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by this unfortunate error.

i have a region 2 version (i live in France) and i have commentaries. not a lot, but some. one regret : i would like to have some commentaries from the actors.

^ You're more likely to be short changed here in Britain then, I suppose. Moaning is a national past-time here. Honestly, who's going to notice one more complaint? I'm glad I insist on buying multi-region, so I can pick and choose when the studios deal out unequal extras... If you've already got complete series boxsets, new commentaries are pretty much all you want these sets for.

A belated Happy Birthday, Captain59. I started a post over at TU for you.

Okay. I've checked mine R1 (US/NTSC), disc 5 and it seems to work okay. Having selected Twilight, then Play Episode on the next screen, you're presented with the option to have the commentary on or off. Checks out okay sound-wise too.

Maybe it's a problem with the DVD player (a higher technical spec disc sometimes means they don't like older models, they started mentioning that in box small print).

The Commentary is the same one with Tim Gaskill and Mike Sussman available as a podcast from Star Trek.com, if that's any help.

See if you can get an exchange or refund. Unlike the Region 2 edition, the commentaries are supposed to be on there and should work.

Thanks for your help, and thank you for the birthday well wishes. I went through all the screens for Twilight, including selecting the commentary, and all I hear is the regular episode. So I don't know. Maybe I'll try another DVD player, although this one is only two years old. Thanks for the link to the podcast. I might just listen to that.
