Premiership - who's going down?

Derby, West Brom and Newcastle look like they are stuck to the bottom of the table.

Anyone see any changes?

I think it will be those three, but I'd dearly like one of them to be Blackburn, even more so after Fat Sam's recent conduct. Newcastle have three must-win home fixtures, but they look utterly clueless at the moment.

Oh geez, Derby being relegated once wasn't enough for people?

WBA, Newcaste and Boro...although I wouldn't be surprised if somehow Hull found themselves in the bottom 3. At least it isn't the same 3 down who came up.

Erm, Derby ?

Yes, Derby. Where have you been?

I'm looking forward to the Portsmouth-Cardiff FA Cup final too. Gosh, that Harry Redknapp sure is loyal to those fans. I bet he stays there through thick and thin.

Oh geez, Derby being relegated once wasn't enough for people?

Some would say Derby got relegated enough for all teams :D

WBA are gone. After watching Newcastle at Spurs, I'd say they're very close to getting royally fucked. Villa and Liverpool will crush them, Boro will be desperate for the points so that'll end up a draw, and Fulham are suddenly really good away from home. I really do believe if they don't beat Portsmouth next week, that's the final nail.

The third team will be... difficult to predict. Pompey and Blackburn will stagger out of trouble, so one from Sunderland, Boro and Hull. Sunderland ought to have enough I reckon, and Boro aren't getting any points for the next fortnight... but then Hull are utter shit now...

Hopefully Boro will stay up - best of a bad bunch. Great youth system and Tuncay. Hull are worthless and Newcastle only have one truly good player, Habib Beye. They looked okay when Martins and Viduka came on, but if Shearer sticks with Owen, they're finished.

Dirty Wolves, Sheffield and either Cardiff or Reading to replace them.

LOL - I don't what happened there - I checked the table before I wrote the post and yet my hands wrote "derby" while my mind thought Middlesbrough. What a cabbage! :guffaw:

This is true, personally I think we should have got double parachute payments. I like to think we take it in good humor though, and there's nothing as great after away fans chant "You're the worst team in history" to chant back "You're being beaten by the worst team in history."

I see Cardiff had Saturday off? ;)

I'm proceeding on the assumption that as Preston away was our most difficult remaining fixture out of the four we decided to have a breather and lull the rest of the league into a false sense of security. Hey, if Ferguson can claim he didn't play Rooney and Co. cos of the pitch...

ha ha, I think everyone will be very lulled after that performance!

Derby are probably safe, but it would be nice to confirm it with a result against Reading tonight or Charlton Saturday!

I'd like Newcastle to stay in the league, don't really give a crap about the other clubs that are in danger, except that one of the few Austrians who's apparently a halfway decent football player plays for Middlesbrough.

Another shite match from Newcastle - no ideas, no hope - I think they are pretty much done.

I bet Newcastle supporters are looking forward to days out to Blackpool in January.

Newcastle are down. They and Boro will draw against each other next and that will be that.

I look forward to welcoming that 'big club' to our new stadium next season and inflicting severe pain on them.

Newcastle were dire all season and dire today. Too big to gone down? too shite to stay up.

They are fucking abject. They'll be where the likes of Norwich, Charlton and Southampton are in no time at all. I can see West Brom bouncing back without too much trouble, and maybe Boro too, but Newcastle have no chance. Shite squad, old players, no money, and no one worth buying.

^Most of their "stars" will be shipped on cheap deals. No way will we see Martins in the Championship.

Not many Newcastle players I'd spend too much money on. Only Martins and Gutierrez really. Owen and Viduka will find a home but are so injury prone their price will surely plummet.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Birmingham buy one or two - McLeish loves his fading Premiership players. Whatever happens, Newcastle are going to have to redefine 'firesale' to have any credible chance of doing well next year. And I agree with Tomalak that they're the least likely of the three to be able to go straight back up.

If what the media is say is right, none of the players have a relegation clause in their contracts! This is going to be a hell of a fire sale.

In the long-term this might do Newcastle some good, get rid of that "big club" entitlement they seem to have. Big clubs aren't playing Blackpool while the donkeys come in off the beaches.

Thank God Newcastle went down, bout time to be honest, and be interesting to see if they retain the huge attendences now (I recall before Keegan where they didn't seem to have many fans at all) Frankly its what the Newcastle fans deserved. They hounded Alladyce out, well well done guys, where did Sam finish this year and where did you? I haven't felt so chuffed since Sunderland got rid of Peter Reid after a really despicable fan campaign and then, while they were probably all still gloating, Howard Wilkinson came in!

Given the way Hull have played since Christmas, you have to wonder if they'll be for the chop next year.

If nothing else the Championship has the potential to be cracking next year: Derby, Forest, Leicester, WBA, Newcastle, Boro, Cardiff, sheff Utd etc etc etc...In fact could be another year where a team you don't expect goes up, they'll be a lot of tight games and big teams taking points off each other.

Can't wait!
