noithing at all.

Nothing apart from a ten minute spot on the movie on Sky Movies.

Other than that, no.

Sad really that we havnt ,everyone else seems to be seeing it everywhere. The only time i have seeen the trailer over here was with Watchmen.

Re: UK People have you...

I do have a theory, however, that they are waiting until this weekend or Monday after the premiere in London because that should make the news channels and the morning shows the day after. The reviews will start coming out next week as well as I believe they had a press screening today.

So we will have to wait and see...

Re: UK People have you...

I remember First Contact advertising in '96. Near to the film, there was a fair amount of hype going into it, with promotions and everything, and for a while you couldn't go anywhere without seeing Star Trek.

Jonathan Ross has been going on about it a lot, there's been plenty of discussion of it in the press and on radio, and no doubt there'll probably be a Simon Pegg appearance on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross to promote it at the time of release. It's being promoted via ways that actually reach the intended audience of the film, and probably at the time of its release there'll be trailers everywhere.

Re: UK People have you...

We don't generally advertise our films to a week or two before the actual release date.

Re: UK People have you...

True, i forgot that only is 'Wossy' a big Trekkie, that Pegg may actually be on the Friday night show next week or something maybe with a fellow cast member to plug the movie.

But i still havnt seen anything crop up on mainstream TV, not even on Sky channels.:wtf:

Wolverine is everywhere though, as a side note.

Re: UK People have you...

Seen a few posters and trailers - but only at the cinema. Like Classic Fan says though, Wolverine is everywhere. One of the posters mentioned something going on for Wolverine during the adverts of tonights 24 on Sky1

Re: UK People have you...

isnt there meant to be a JLC "Bring Back Star Trek" show on C4 at some stage?

I was speaking to some folks at work (a mixed bunch of demographics) and sadly they did not know a new Star Trek movie was coming out.

Wouldn't that just involve going to a fairly big star trek con and saying "oh look, there they all are"?

Sadly it seems that the 'big' guest on the next show is Miley Cyrus (dear God, no!)... but maybe we'll have a pleasant surprise, at least we can hope for one.

Re: UK People have you...

The only place there is any real advertising is in the USA.

We had the world premiere here in Sydney and there are now NO posters, NO advertising on TV, nothing, nada, zippo. Yet Wolverine is everywhere.

Weirdest thing is that there were actually posters for Star Trek through the city the week of the premiere but they have been all removed and now there are none at all - like it does not even exist. What the hell, it is like the film has been released months ago and they are taking the posters down. It makes no sense.

Paramount may have wanted things to be different this time for Star Trek outside the USA but having ZERO promotion will just produce another flop that has pathetic international box office.

A bad international performance is not good and this WILL affect the chances for a BIG budget sequel. Maybe their aim is to take Star Trek back to bargain basement SCI-FI for the next film.

It really is a sad state of affairs.

That's definitely not their goal. if I see any more trade articles about what if anything Paramount is thinking, I'll post em.

Re: UK People have you...

Woooooah!!!

Your are not going to believe this...

Well, you probably will being premiere day, but...

There is a premiere poster printed in the Metro (free uk comuters paper)paper today. Being tired and rushing at 5.45 to the train station this morning, i had to double take. It was the release poster, with the three faces and ship being built.

Thought id mention it, its the first mainstream media publicity i have seen so far. Makes sense to plug it after the premiere.

Re: UK People have you...

The only ad I've seen was when I was watching Baseball Tonight, and Star Trek was sponsoring the show.

Re: UK People have you...

Nice one! Will look out for it!

Im on lunch flicking through it properly now, its on page 18, bottom left, advertising the premiere with it too. :techman:

If you can find a metro copy, but thats easy in london, theres one every few seats on the busses and tube, mostly keeping tramps warm or covering dog turds.

Edit:
"' 'old on a minnute, lads... I gotta great idea..." We all cut out those small posters from the Metro paper and litter our areas with them, where ever you can, on seats/floor/ground/windows/walls//park benches/scan them and email to your buddy list/spam them to random fax numbers/put them on sleeping people or even stick em to a tramps back..

We will get it to the masses, we will... ;)

Re: UK People have you...
