What happened to Rose & Bernard?

marplanauta

Commander
Red Shirt
We haven´t seen them since the flaming arrows incident... are they dead? travelling through time? in the 70s? in the present? with Richard, the children and the air hostess?

I think they're going to be in the finale. They're just actors that are highly in demand, but are utilized when absolutely necessary.

I think they took shelter in the caves again, and stayed there until their remains were discovered by Jack and co. in the future.

I'm onboard with the Adam and Eve theory as well. Somehow, it seems right that they'd be the two skeletons cuddled together. It makes sense too with Rose's cancer she doesn't want to leave. I like to think she was in the middle of nagging him about something.

Where would they have gotten the black and white stones though? I'm sure we're going to get a Season Six episode that is nothing but a flashback of what they did on their own time jumping through the 70s.

I highly doubt they'd be quietly killed off offscreen though. Even if they do end up becoming "Adam & Eve", I presume that we'll get to see that story play out at some point, rather than just never hear from them again, and have their deaths take place offscreen.

I think Rose is a bit of a jerk. She had that "Mystical Black Woman" thing in the first season, where she gave oot little pearls of wisdom...then she just turned into an angry old nag.

Maybe they decide to use the black/white stones to ID themselves to the Losties in the future. A note might give away too much. They figure only someone who knew them would figure out who they were long after their deaths, by that clue.

Maybe The Others found them in the 70's and are holding them captive, that's my best guess.

I have been annoyed by the lack of explanation about what happened to all the other survivors. I mean we had something like 40 odd of them, and there's been no explanation of what happened. I just assumed they all ended up in the 70's.

Maybe some of them went off island on the sub, to start new lives?

Lostpedia did the math on this, accounting for all the times that we've seen 815 redshirts die, and I think, if you discount the tail section survivors who were absorbed into the Others back in Season 2, then there at most about 10 "red shirts" from Flight 815 left alive after all of this.

And we don't really know how many might have been killed in the attack in the beach in "The Lie". Could be all of them, for all we know. Though with Rose and Bernard in particular, I don't think they'd kill them off offscreen.

No, last we heard Sawyer never did find them, he was looking, had a search pattern, but never found them

So if the Others are holding them captive that would make sense why he never found them, maybe they are inside the temple walls being held there

I believe Lostpedia said there were only two at the most Redshirt survivors not counting Rose and Bernard.

Except they weren't cuddled together when the Losties found them in season one. They were on their own separate beds/ledges. But at this point, I do think they're the best candidates for Adam and Eve, if the show ever goes back to them.

That said, I would question why they didn't end up in the 70's with everyone else. Jack also said in the episode they were found in that the bodies looked like they were dead for about 50 years, matching up with Jughead's time. Maybe they were US soldiers?

^They could have gone back to the 70s and died in that time period, so that when the Losties found the bodies in 2004 they had been dead for over 30 years.

Of course that would cause some paradox type problems, but who knows what the heck will happen.

How would that cause a paradox? They could die in the past (just like Charlotte), and their bodies could be found later. That's not a paradox.

If they were dead for 50 years, then I guess they would have most likely died during the flash to 1954.

But then, I still don't think the writers would have killed off Rose and Bernard offscreen.....
