No. The trailers all show Kirk with, what appears to be the cuts and bruises he got from the bar fight, when he arrives on the Enterprise. The rest is just logical deduction. No spoiler warning needed....most of us have already seen this stuff.

From what I've seen, Kirk gets injured in the bar fight. Fast forward to the icy planet with the monster and he could have easily gotten bruised there. He meets Scotty and they end up on the Enterprise. But really, being from bar to alien world to starship would indicate quite a bit of time passing, hence new injuries.

But then we wouldn't know for sure until we watch the film.

The Enterprise is attacked at the beginning of some of these trailers. I want to ask why, at the end of the trailers, the Enterprise looks so clean. Logical deduction with huge but slightly educated guesses would tell me that the Enterprise gets destroyed and rebuilt in one movie, because that's sequence the trailers showed us.

The trailers don't show Kirk getting into a bar fight on an ice planet, either. However, he threw down with four red-shirted cadets who came together Voltron style (which the trailers also didn't show) to make a giant red insect monster. What's not to get?

or the trailer is showing stuff out of sequence..
and i dont remember seeing the enterprise getting that seriously damaged in the trailer.
she is in a fight yes but not any were near getting destroyed that is my meaning.

look one of the last images in one trailer is the destruction of the kelvin talking about showing stuff out of synch..

Nerys Myk & SalvorHardin: After reviewing the trailer again, it would appear that I jumped the gun. The injuries do look different. You guys are correct. I should have looked closer before starting an unnecessary thread.

It would have really sucked to see a snot-nosed kid off the street, so to speak, assuming command of the Enterprise....even in JJTrek.

Yea I know he graduated but at the begining of the film or the end?

Before he sets foot on the Enterprise.

Yeah, I sincerely doubt Pike or another senior Starfleet officer would let Kirk on the bridge of the Enterprise without him having already graduated from the Academy and being given a field assignment.

Who knows.

But as said, the dossier says he is a student when this takes place, and the fact he has a perfect fitting uniform top with emblem on the left breast.

Its fairly obvious that he is not in Starfleet before Pike comes to the tear-aways rescue. After that, hes in starfleet training and ends up on the Enterprise, probably as part of a training mission thats suddenly turned into a free-for-all for survival, ala; Wrath of Khan.

So i guess its a Yes and No answer.

Kirk gets beaten up at bar. Then decides to go to academy. Graduates, sorta, pending KM diciplinary action. He's smuggled on the Ent. After getting marooned on Delta Vega, Kirk gets beaten up while escaping ice beast. He then transports back to the enterprise, looking roughed up.

I feel a lot better about this now. Having Kirk be a *graduate* of the Academy makes it a lot more realistic. Perhaps it's like it was in the original timeline - Kirk graduates with the rank of Lieutenant (having been made an Ensign while still at the Academy).

In that case, Kirk getting command of the Enterprise at the end of this film is much more believable.

I'm starting to realize just how so many people could so easily warp whatever Abrams says.

Seriously, people! VOLTRON!!! He makes this movie so much better! (through logical deduction and trying to fill in what goes with roughly only 3 minutes of the movie we've all seen)

I lot of the trailers show the Kelvin being blown up near the end. I doubt thats near the end of the film.
