Would a Sisko/Riker Command Work

Wouldn't that be a demotion for Riker?
Could have worked in the context of the show, I suppose--Riker screwed up so badly he got shuttled off to bumfuck Bajor, serving under a Commander who has some personal issues with Riker's last CO.

Riker is meant to be a professional so he shoudl work as well under Sisko as he did Picard. Sisko might have an easier time with Riker as he then wouldn't have to put up with any Bajoran interference/questions of loyalty that came about from having a second in command from outside Starfleet.
I think it would work, but there might also be some conflicts we didn't have with Sisko/Kira. Riker is obviously a lot more "Starfleet" than Kira. So I think there would be a more visible friction over the whole Emissary thing. That might have been interesting, to have another strong leader type confront Sisko on that, rather than just having it known that Starfleet kind of frowns on it.
I can see Riker telling Sisko point blank that he has no business being a religious figure to the Bajorans, and Sisko responding in kind. Ultimately Riker would let it go, but he would definitely confront.

It would make for some development on Riker's behalf as well. If they sent him to DS9 from the very beginning he'd have some bitterness over the fact that he had saved Earth from the Borg and in return for that he was sent off to some backwater outpost to take orders from a guy who wasn't even sure he wanted to be in Starfleet anymore and may hold some resentment towards Riker for being associated with Picard. Though the Picard issue would fade quickly as Sisko got over it by the end of Emissary.
Also, the relationship between them would be closer to two peers instead of the Teacher/Student relationship Riker had with Picard.

Will Riker or his clone "Tom" Riker? ^_~ I actually would have been interested in seeing the other Riker on staff.
