New music clips

Giacchino is a scoring god, so I'm not the least bit surprised that this stuff is awesome.

Seems pretty generic to me. I'm underwhelmed. However, we've only heard a little. The other stuff could be fantastic.

The use of the original TV theme is amazing! It's such a classic theme that has never been adapted for the big screen, while Jerry Goldsmith (good as he was) kept regurgitating his TMP theme over and over to the point where it may have become more identified with Star Trek than the original. "Back to the roots" is a great thing in this case!

I love "Enterprising young man", sounds epic. And the end credits rock, can't wait to hear the whole thing in the theater.

Excellent.

I was kinda expecting a generic score, but this is great so far, cant wait for the whole thing in dolby surround in the theatre.

The Theme is fantastically done, ive heard full orchestras do the theme better to be honest, but for a movie update, its fabulous. Shame its not left until the end ala Casino Royale, as the movie opens with the theme.

Actually, just to rain on your parade...

Courages Star Trek theme was used in TMP for the captains log scenes, beautifully orchestrated, unfortunately, not included on the soundtrack.

Also, on The Voyage Home soundtrack, the Back home/End credits sequence, Rosenman has Courages theme again, when the Enterprise A is revealed. Its the only two instances in the movies where his actual theme is heard, not just the opening fanfare.

Check this at 0.38 seconds and and it makes a full apearence, fanfare and all at 1.11 onward.

Sorry, I don't hear it. Yes, it has shades of the theme, but not a full-blown, faithful rendition like what I just heard on the new score. Besides, you kinda forget the nod to that theme once Rosenman's wonderful TVH theme kicks in. I luuuuurve it!

LOL, believe it or not, i was just working on Horners scores aswel. I love Horners Trek work, he even slips in the famous opening 'Twinkle' theme as the enterprise lights come on before its stolen by Kirk. Its subtle but great.

Ive got my ipod on now going through Treks 1-6 soundtracks. How cool. Only a Trek fan. :p

EDIT: Found here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_SGXx3pLzs

anyway, I refreshed the thread incase i was repeating a reply that may have been posted, in this instance, almost did.

Anyway. i hunted down a log scene from TMP, it just so happens to be from the same scene as i was talking about:

Most of the samples weren't that spectacular, save obviously for the final one. Brought a little smile to my face.

That was my thought. The other tracks seemed generic action scenes, but after a couple of listens they improved.

Its nice to hear a trek score thats not identical to the previous one before the previous before that (Goldsmith for TNG movies.)

Quick question:

I was never a fan of TOS, so forgive me for being a little unsure about this. At the end of the Generations, FC, INS, and NEM end credits, they play the Star Trek fanfare music, is that TNG only? Or will we potentially hear it at the end of this film?

Also the music, for instance at the beginning of Nemesis, when the title is displayed, again, is that TNG-only or will we hear it in Star Trek?

At 50 seconds here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ss4XQkIer0

"Enterprising Young Man" sounded interesting. And of course the final theme, well... that brought shivers, quite honestly.

Its a TOS staple. Used for Movies 2-11 since Horner re-introduced it.

The fanfare is the only Courage crossover bewtween the two 'Veres.

AFter that, Goldsmiths TMP (Albeit dumbed down version to the epic movie one) takes over.

The fanfare will be there along with its natural partner, the TOS theme. The fanfare wasnt in TMP, if i remember although the shows theme was. The fanfare was a quirk that Horner adapted to his two scores, then it became common place to use Courages fanfare for TNG and TOS Movies, and incedentally, whenever an Enterprise/TOS character appears on another show (Trials and Tribbleations/Relics)

Thanks very much, just so we're clear, both the end credits music at the end of Trek 2 to 10 AND the opening theme to Nemesis are both the same fanfare?

And are you 100% certain it'll appear in Trek XI? All I've heard is the TOS theme linked above
