Star Trek rated 12A in the UK

12A is just PG with a legally enforced age limit. It doesn't stop the film from being ruined by little blighters who can't keep their mouths shut.

An example: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, during the final battle scene when they're about to charge. Soundtrack goes quiet. Epic moment. And then... little schmuck behind me says loudly "wass he gonna do?". That ruined the moment for me, and ever since then I've hated the 12A rating. Mind you, it was the rating they were going for (UK equivalent to PG-13), so it'll be commercially good for the film.

But I'm thinking midnight screening on a school night to be safe.

Should we be worried that opening night in London at Leicester square, at 8.45 (what should be THE prime time for the film), is still only about 15% full? I know there's a few weeks to go but still! Then again I've not seen any posters for it in London and perhaps people haven't realised booking is open yet, and has been for a month!

Cool I was worried it'd be a PG

Does that make a big difference in the UK?

See above. Not really. People under the age of 12 can see it, as long as they're with an adult. Still, from a marketing point of view, 12A is better.

Gee, lighten up man.

If you read the book, not only is everything way more epic, but no annoying children will ruin the moment.

No, that would be "give me my money back"... :p

In Germany it's rated FSK12. It's pretty much the same thing then.

Slightly off topic, but i didn't want to open an extra thread for this:
I'm pretty pissed at my local theater. The have this row of preview posters in the entrance area. Star trek is among them, but which poster did they choose?!?!?!? The Uhura Teaser Poster! Even I had to look twice to notice it and an third time to RECOGNIZE it from a distance. And that was only because I knew it from the internet.
How are normal viewers supposed to become curious with advertising like that?

WHERE DO YOU BOOK FOR THE OPENING NIGHT...

I have been checking the Odeon website and can't find where to book tickets.

I remember going to see Revenge of the Sith on the second nights showing at Leicester Square, and me and my brother were sat between Princess Leia and Darth Vader, and it was such a fun atmosphere, that was the first time I tried to get an early showing for a film, so I want to do the same for Star Trek, and any repeat showings at the cheap and comfortable Wood Green Showcase cinema...

Yup it's not at the Odeon leicester square thankfully. Horrible seats, crappy sound.

Empire leicester square is much better. It's where all the Star Trek films have been shown. Well, except for Nemesis!

If it's PG13 in the US and 12A in Britain, then I can fairly assume it's going to be AA over here! :D
