Doug Drexler Visits Pocket Books

I think he means Vanguard: Precipice. At least, that's the novel Dave was working on that last time we talked Vanguard. Not that it matters...as I'm still drooling over tasty TOS imagery... :D

the cover to Vanguard: Flashpoint.

Mhh, three options I guess:

They renamed the sixth Vanguard novel

Doug just revealed the (working) title of a potential seventh novel

It's just a mistake.

Discuss. ;)

ETA: I see Dayton beat me to it.

Sweeeeet! Does anyone know if Flashpoint going to be the sixth Vanguard book, or will there be one in between? After Precipice shouldn't it be Dayton & Kevin's turn? I guess with multiple authors it doesn't really matter. That SotL 2010 calendar is pretty cool looking as well :techman:.

What was the original name for book 6 :vulcan:? I didn't even know it was announced... I thought Open Secrets was #4, while Precipice was #5.

Precipice is VGD #5.

Book 6's working title, in an attempt to grant The Mollmann's wishes with respect to titles, will be The Taurus Key: A Crystalline Fairy Tale, Founded Upon The Mysteries of the Shedai and the Oppression of Their Servants. It Was Written for Kollotuul, But Others Should Read It.

(To the best of my knowledge, no VGD books are in the works after Precipice, even in the most fleeting sense. I'm almost certain Doug flubbed the book title, as Mack told me the other day that he'd seen the cover art for Precipice in Margaret's office while Doug was in town.)

Note that Doug mentions tie-in projects (plural) connected to the new movie... and seems to be suggesting non-fiction works...

Really want to figure out what all those manuscript sections are. I spy: Unspoken Truth, Unworthy, Synthesis, Seven Deadly Sins, Never-Ending Sacrifice, The Soul Key, and Troublesome Minds, but there are a few in smaller type, and a few that are hidden from view...

My bad, I think I confused the numbers of Titan and Vanguard. :alienblush:

Flashpoint was an early working title for VGD #5, but Marco shot it down because there had been a previous Star Trek story or episode with that title. Precipice is the fifth novel in the Vanguard series.

Also, though there aren't any Vanguard books yet planned beyond Precipice, the story is not going to be wrapped up in that book. It's my hope that there might yet be a couple more books in the series….

That's odd, I can't find any reference on Memory Alpha or Beta to such a title, except as the working title of DS9: "The Adversary." (There's also Flashpoint Sinister, one of the books Veronica Fletcher wrote in Destiny. Maybe Marco thought you were repeating yourself?)

"Flash Point" is a TNG short story in Strange New Worlds IV :)

Only a couple?:(

Man, I will not only actually buy this book instead of reading it in the bookstore, I will buy a copy for every friend I have!

That image of Spacedock under construction is better than anything in the '09 calendar. Looking forward to it.

Love the little peak into where the books stay in the embryonic stage.

Don't know if this was your intention, but this sounds like there isn't much more to the series?
