Possible Project - Opinions Wanted

Hi, folks.

Am considering trying to do a prose version (or, if you will, "novelization") of the Phase II script Kitumba by John Meredyth Lucas.

Two questions:

1) Would this be considered unethical to try and adapt someone else's work?

2) Would anyone want to read this sort of thing?

1 - I don't think so (hell, we're all in here trying to adapt Roddenberry's work). As long as story credit is given to the original author.

2 - Might be interesting.

Well considering that someone already did a fanfic based off of Kitumba on Famfiction.net and there didn't seem to be any legal backlash that I've heard about it would probably be okay.

Thanks to all for your input and suggestions. Think I'm gonna give it a go. Might have the first part posted in the next week or two. Only thing I gotta figure out is how to write Decker. TMP neatly side-steps a few issues by having Will go away at the end of the movie. Question that comes to my mind, though, is how would Decker have handled staying on under the command of the guy that took his job? Hmmm....

I just came across this thread. Hell yeah, do it. It would be interesting to see what you do with it. Of all the PHASE II scripts, I think this one was the best...so do it!!!
