Caprica & Stargate Universe... why so little excitement?

I still don't get the sweeping generalization of prequels as pointless. Someone already gave the WW2 example, and personally speaking, my wife and I are going through the M*A*S*H DVDs (just started S5) and even though we know how the Korean War (er, police action) ends, we're still enjoying seeing how the people react to it in the meantime. (well, perhaps "enjoy" is the wrong word, but I think you know what I mean).

I have felt for sometime that the 4 seasons of BSG barely scratched the surface of the stories one could tell in that 'verse (and I agree with EJO in that they could have done several more seasons, if given a proper trajectory and end date to aim for). There's plenty of un-answered questions about how the Colonies got to where they are, and I hope to see them in Caprica. I'd also like to say that a series (maybe 8-10 episode mini-series) of the first Cylon war would be another great little story, esp if they get the guy to play young Husker that played him in the Razor flashbacks.

In case anybody's wondering about my opinion on Stargate, well, I'm still waiting for a sequel to the original film :)

QFT. :bolian:

I thought we had discussed Stargate Universe. Wasn't it, Star Trek Voyager/Sliders/Quantum Leap?

lost in space..

My money's on: bad attempt to ape BSG that comes off as something between intentional parody and total train wreck. :bolian:

This actually makes me more enthusiastic about it. The one thing that would make me stop watching is if it's so boring and unambitious that it isn't even worth complaining about.

For some reason I think you enjoy bad shows way too much.

Nah, I'm very intolerant of them which is why I don't watch much on TV at all. The only bad show I'm watching now is brand new: Harper's Island. I find it rare that a bad show comes along that's bad in that very specifically entertaining way. And by the time SG:U debuts, Harper's Island will have been cancelled (didn't debut strongly, and it's on picky CBS!) so I'm hoping SG:U can fill the gap. Gotta have one fun bad show! :bolian:

^^ Harper's Island was designed to end after 13 episodes so maybe they'll let it run through.

The plan is to kill all the characters but continue the "franchise" with the Harper's name - Harper's Creepy Old Hotel, Harper's Mall Full of Stupid Teenagers Who Get Locked in After Midnight, Harper's Supermax Prison for the Criminally Insane, etc.

Sad to say, they will never see the light of broadcast TV. :D

My lack of interest is mostly due to my feelings on both franchises as of late. I loved Star Gate...back during season 7 of the show. Then it just went on and on and spawned that shitty spin off.

Galactica had the same problem. It was a good show and then it just made me hate all of the characters.

ill probably tune in for thef irst episodes of both shows, but my expectations arent exactly high
