Red Dwarf, this weekend

Oh Bob, you know me so well!

*ahem* Yes.

But I'm telling you - Journey's End REALLY DID give me the flu.

So for those of us in the States, will there be a DVD release soon? I'm on dial-up so I can't illegally download it.

The only thing that worries me is the fact that the crew will visit coronation Street during the course of the episodes. :brickwall:

Can't really tell until we see it, but I'm kind of tickled by the idea. But then my wife and I are fans of both Red Dwarf and Corrie. Of course, now that I can finally watch Craig Charles and think "oh, there's Lloyd" instead of "oh, there's Lister" they're doing this.

The last few seasons of Red Dwarf were wildly uneven, so if this doesn't completely stink, it couldn't be much worse than anything we've already seen.

I cant wait for this, there appears to be no movie (which was planned in 2001, pre-production and all of that stuff) but this will have to do!

I like the qualifier, you wouldn't be able to legally download it either.

It sounds like it will be a great Easter weekend for our UK brethren (and for some of us here :)).

My friend's all super-excited about this, and I was too up until I saw the pics on the set of Corrie. It really just stopped me in my tracks and I'm just not enthusiastic anymore. A nice slice of pessimism will do me good anyway; if it tuns out better than I'm fearing then I'll be fine. It certainly won't be classic Dwarf but it'll be nice to see them together again.

Is Kochanski returning as well?

According to SFX, she's dead by the time of Back to Earth for some reason.

Apparently this is based on the movie that Doug Naylor's been trying to make for years, and then the Dave channel stumped up the money to make a fair approximation of what it would have been. There's quite a strange story behind the making of the film, anyway, as they got to the point of having a script and doing readthroughs, and then it all fell apart due to a lack of funding.

The funding was coming from all sorts of strange places, though, and Naylor apparently went to meet one guy who turned out to be a fake Duke or something like that. The whole thing's probably somewhere up on the net, I'd imagine.

I don't know, there seemed to be a few amusing moments in there. Along with some of the moments that made series 7 and 8 so annoying, those "This is funny, look" moments where they play it up too much.

Well, Dave has a Red Dwarf night tonight, which includes the episode "Quarantine" which is my favourate episode of all time.
