I guess so, My theory is that he left the island then, I can't wait to find out what he is up to.... though there was that episode where we saw him in the Orchid, so at some point he must end up there
From the live commentary thread... They are funny aren't they? Didn't Richard say that he'd forget stuff last week? Yeah, I thought he was thrown off the island by a wheel-turn. Maybe he still has time to go back and turn that wheel. Yeah, he got shot in the shoulder and was knocked unconsious, TV-style!
Well since it's telepathic and knew he was planning to kill him again, and then spared him, I can only assume his promise to change was legit or he would have been killed. Oh yeah another thing we learned. We saw the interior of the "Cerebus Summoning Chamber". Interesting that he has to pull out a drain in a puddle. I can't figure that out. And when he talked to it and said I'll be outside... was he really speaking to it as a person? That seemed odd to me. Particularly since he knew it wasn't there yet... does it have really good hearing?
He probably didn't want little J to grow up motherless like he did. If he even thought that far. He was pretty shocked by the kid.
Thanks. Yeah, but this time I started thinking seriously about whether or not the smoke monster simply poses as someone else or if the dead person is somehow "alive" through the smoke minster. I got to thinking that because it would be nice for Alex to know that Ben only said what he said to Keamy to try and save her. I thought that he might die too. This was the first time I noticed that the smoke monster sounded like hissing beetles. A snake could work too though.
Maybe the hole in the ground leads to the temple, kinda like a long tube to carry sound to the temple, that's my best guess.
From my viewing, the bullet hit the grocery bag and not Des at all. I didn't see any hits on his body. As for him not remembering, I believe Alpert said only that he wouldn't remember the past day or something like that, not that he would forget the three years that LaFleur was in charge.
This is my opinion, but I believe that since these people died on the Island, the smoke monster can appear as these people and also contains all their thoughts and memories, so it can pretend to be these people. OR it could be that it has for a short period of time re-animated them but are basically possessed by the smoke monster. It is also possible that it isn't the smoke monster that is controlling them at all, it could be Jacob looking like these dead people.
The entire episode was a classic LOST lead-up to killing someone. It had flashbacks of his life, showing all of his various sins. We learned almost every answer about him we were dying to know. He's looking back on his life and realizing the mistakes he's made. And he's heading to judgment with Cerebus. So him NOT dying is actually the shocking plot twist!
So what happens when we follow Locke through the rest of this season and next. Then in the series finale they come across a casket. And in this casket is the body of John Locke. They look up just in time to see the John Locke they have been following dissolve into a mist and float away. What a mind game that would be.
I think it temporarily physically ressurecting someone only to kill them off again would be a little... cruel. Howabout when he eats the body he also consumes the soul, and that soul becomes a part of its collective consciousness, which it can call up when need be. This would explain why it only appears as dead people (this would mean Claire is dead though). Either that or it's just using the person's memories to create an interpretation of the person it's appearing as.
I thought about that, what if Locke is indeed dead, and he is like these dead people we keep seeing, and is possessed by either the smoke monster or jacob.
Yeah, maybe he did get shot in the bag, I don't know. I just thought it was funny how he went down and then we see him attack Ben. It was very "TV"
Well it seems like Christian and Locke are the two exceptions to the rules, that they were literally ressurected body and soul by the Island because they're the chosen leaders or whatever. On the other hand, since we saw Alex having a physical body here for a moment, I guess that means Christian (picking up the photo frame) isn't so special after all. So Locke is the ONLY ressurected guy, which is what Ben said in this episode. Incidentally, Ben is unaware of Christian's (new) existance as far as I'm aware. In this episode Sun tells him a crazy old man named Christian told them to wait here, but he didn't seem to give any reaction to this.
actually he did give a classic Ben reaction to this, he turned his head and had a weird stare on his face right when she said that
Ben doesn't like to let other people think he doesn't know what is going on, and he likes to listen and gather info but never give it out, if he admitted he thought what Sun said was odd they would know something is up with that, Ben wouldn't let someone think its a big deal in the first place, cause Ben wants control over that knowledge and manipulate events.
