Was the Brigadier really a Swinger?

Guy Gardener

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
It's what Sarah-Jane called Alistair in the first installment of "The Robot".

I laughed and laughed.

Now I might know that "Swinger" also means that you are one happening cat Daddio, but I'm also pretty sure that they had some whacked out key parties in UNIT HQ after hours... Well at least until Mike Yates was Court Martialed, I mean if Mikes not going to be there, hells bells why bother?

Then of course on the production side of the show, even if several someones along the line in control of maintaining the purity and ethical integrity of Doctor Who in 1974 wasn't quite up to speed with the current vernacular, others were and laughed their ass off like I did and chose to let it slip through. :)

Underneath the be-uniformed starchiness and stiff-upper-lippedness of UNIT beats the heart of the lounge-dwelling fondue-eating slacks-wearing swinger.

And The Brig swung more than most, baby. You know it.

Thanks guys. I now have the Austin Powers opening sequence, starring the Brig., on permanent replay inside my brain.
Who should I send the therapist's bills to?

Are we talking about those kinds of parties where all the chaps toss their car keys into a bowl in the middle of the room? Coz the Brig would be the coolest there when he chucks in the keys to a Sherman tank, or something. :D

TARDIS key ftw.

No, that "man" would have used the key to Bessie, otherwise it's cheating.

Or that whomobile hovercraft?

Maybe that's why we only saw it the once?

Some slapper didn't give the key back?

UM, This is Robot related, so here it comes, the Robot refered to itself as a "K1" robot which might make it K9's greatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgrandfather?

How coincidental or incidental?

Coincidental, but I too picked up on that and just imagine it's intended and true...

and what of Captain Jack, was he part of these UNIT swing sessions?

Even if he's turned away you can bet he's peeking through the window.

Poor Jack didn't have a car at the time. Never got invited to the parties. He heard that The Brig got freaky with two sisters from Godalming in the back of a Transit van and was inconsolable for a fortnight.

But it makes sense.

Torchwod was hunting the Doctor.

UNIT Had the Doctor.

They both knew the others agenda.

The brigadier was greasing someones palms to keep Torchwood on the fray, and maybe just not their palms?

Sex for secrets.

The only way to do politics.
