several ships, all less advanced than Ent. different from Kelvin. I think they all had even numbered nacelles, though. :) I saw one with four nacelles and no secondary hull, like the Stargazer.

No... I think trying to shoehorn in an explanation would have seemed weird. I think the fact that this is a divergent reality is the most significant explanation for why things have changed.

Kelvin does have several aspects that are akin to original Ent although less advanced. There are touch screens on the Kelvin but lots of nobs too. I think it's a synthesis of 60s aesthetic, Enterprise TV show aesthetic, and what is common knowledge about modern technology.

    Must be deleted scenes

Could you describe Spock (Nimoy's) scenes in the movie?

Also what happens to Nero after the Kelvin is destroyed? Thanks

I don't want to describe Spock's scenes except to say that of all the souls in the new movie, his was the most...human. Nimoy Spock is magnificent and integral to the film.

re Nero after Kelvin destruction, there is a satisfactory explanation for why he doesn't just go destroy Vulcan, Earth, Kling/Kronos/Klinzhai. he had an appointment with destiny.

I think that's when any Klingon stuff, deleted or otherwise, may have occured. I eagerly await the DVD!

What happens to Nero? Is he killed? Or have they set it up nicely that he can re-appear in the second film?

he meets up with Khan at the end, like I saw in that thread here earlier. j/k

Nero's fate is resolved at the end of the movie. He won't reappear, unless he got trapped in the Nexus or some nonsense.

Does it end on a cliffhanger? Do they leave it open to a sequel or future films?

Now that is a spoiler, maybe the only one I regret reading.

So we are getting The Wrath of Khan again? I don't know if people who are Trek people are going to like that. They are messing with a classic, who is the actor???

engineering is massive, and at no time do we get to see it all at once. it is unlike any engineering we have seen but very industrial. it is befitting a starship that can bend space to travel faster than light.

even engineering on the kelvin is huge.

there are catwalks and multiple antimatter chambers and reactor cores. it is like staring into the window in the TOS engineering insofar as it gives you a sense of magnitude.
