BBC Four has finished filming on a new entertainment programme titled It's Only A Theory.
The eight half-hour episodes will see experts submit their theories about life and the universe for examination by a panel of two comedians and a guest celebrity.
After a thorough interrogation, the panel will make a final decision on whether the theory is worth keeping.
The show will be hosted by Outnumbered writer Andy Hamilton, who is joined each week by stand-up Reginald D. Hunter.
Executive editor of BBC comedy entertainment Katie Taylor said of the show: "It's Only A Theory explores refreshingly new territory for comedy entertainment as Andy and Reg lead us on a comic journey in their quest for knowledge."

It sounds like it could be interesting. Funny and informative, isn't that encroaching on QI's territory though?

Giving QI a kick in its complacency could be a good thing... Fry and some of the panel members really gave me a "smug git" feeling this last series. Especially Phil Jupitus who seems to have shed his cuddly humour along with his cuddly body shape and has just become either a tad aggressive or blatantly trying to get into Stephen's underwear.

Ah, BBC 4. The only place on British TV jokes about the Copenhagen interpretation of Quantum mechanics don't even need a laugh track.

^Technically I suspect it's supposed to be joke, based on the amount of people who say "It's only a theory" when talking about anything scientific that they don't want to believe.

^ I love it when Reg is on a panel show. You can see the terror in other peoples' eyes as he nimbly skirts the "OMFG! He can't say that!" moments with mad skill.

And as for QI - all Fry is good Fry. That is all.

This!

Yeah Reg is pretty on the ball (and the line) 100% of the time. Seen him a couple of times in the big purple cow at the Edinburgh fringe. Very cool stand up - like the love child of Richard Pryor and Bill Hicks.

That would be one damn funny kid. I must now go in search of this guy's stand-up.

OT; show sounds interesting. Will most definitely give it a watch.

Has no DVD out I'm afraid. Quite annoying - I'd kill for RDH stuff and Andy Parsons for that matter.

I tried "tracking" some of his stuff down, and all I could find were the HIGNFY and QI epsiodes he appeared on. Might check YouTube too, actually. They may have some clips of his stand-up stuff there.

Well it starts tonight at 10 on BBC Four.

Comedians Andy Hamilton and Reginald D Hunter host a series in which qualified professionals and experts submit their theories about life, the universe and everything for examination by a panel of Hamilton, Hunter and a guest celebrity, who then make a final decision on whether the theory is worth keeping.
The guest celebrity is sports presenter Clare Balding and the experts are Dr Aubrey de Grey and Lucy Beresford.

It may be a joke, but it will probably further the idea that a scientific theory is just some guys crazy idea.

I'm still kind of mixed on Hunter after all these years. Sometimes he's funny, other times you almost expect the joke that he'll use.

And hell, I've even watched him on Australian panel shows.
