Len Wein housefire...

Wein created Wolverine and Storm, among other characters. The family got out ok, but their dog Sheba ran back into the house and was killed. Also lost in the fire were the original pages of the first Wolverine story, the Cover art for Giant Size X-Men #1, and 100s of thousands of dollars of other artwork.

What struck me was the fact that Wein, who had created some of Marvel's arguably most popular characters, was still just a "freelancer", thanks to Marvel's shitty "work for hire" licence agreements.

That's horrible. At least he and his family OK.

I can't help thinking of his creation Swamp Thing. Whose origin involved a fire.

You too huh? I was just thinking SWAMP THING! who I think is Wein's greatest comic creation! Man that sucks that not only did he lose his house and ''TONS'' of priceless artwork, but he losses his dog too!? That SUCKS BIG TIME!:( I pray he and his family will be okay!

That's so terrible, but I'm glad to hear the family got out safe.

I'm not shocked at all. Marvel is well known for far worse.

He also wrote a lot of Star Trek comics for DC in the 80s.

I feel sad about the dog. They say the dog ran back in..I wonder if he thought there was someone still inside...:(
