Is Kal Pen dead? For those that watch House, WTF kinda episode was that. they really should have had something at the very end that either said if hes dead for real or was just fired.
That was the most disturbing episode Ive seen of any show in a while. that and the fact that they put up a obituary page for Kutner and had all that stuff about suicide hotlines?
WTF? Is he dead in real life?

He's alive.

His character is dead.

He is not his character. The website at the end was directing people to a suicide hotline, it wasn't an obit.

Penn is alive and well. The death of Kutner had been planned for a while (though it was a surprise to the viewers!).

I watched House tonight.

Many around here should know my feelings when it comes to spoiler warnings.

But, yeah, this thread needs a spoiler warning on it. The episode, afterall, just aired a few hours ago.

Question is asked and answered, but yeah it was a kind-of "suicide awarness" episode. I've no idea why they killed off Penn's character or why they have a mermorial set up for the character on Fox's website. I mean, he's only been on the show for two seasons now and not that much in those two seasons to begin with. His character carried no impact with me.

Couldn't care less about his death.

No Its not a trick of any kind. I put it in Misc cause I didnt think it would go in the "The Next Generation" forum and I didnt see a House forum. I dunno about weather not Id call the thread or post a spoiler of any kind tho. I mean when an episode of smallville airs and people are posting (sometimes as the show is airing) about the show right after it airs I dont see any spoiler warnings in those threads...
But back on topic. It just seemed weird that they didnt show Kal Pen in (other than pics) the episode and then they do that whole fake obituary at the end followed by the numbers for Suicide hotlines...
As for google, it may be a friend but it also has entries about Kal Pen being dead in real life. So that does no good...
RIP Kutner....The worst part is I never saw any signs that he was depressed...
So what is the real story as to why hes off the show? Just cutting cast for money or did he get on Hugh Lauries bad side?

Kal Penn isn't dead. They're bringing his character back to life on 24 so he can murder Kim Bauer and Tony Almeida. 24's done an excellent job keeping that storyline under wraps. Which is odd considering how Fox gave away Peter dying at the hands of a traitorous Astrid in Tuesday's episode of Fringe.

eta: google tells me, that apparently it was his decision to leave the show and he got some kind of job in the White House (no joke) - entertainment weakly. That makes the way Kutner died even worse though, it was a cheap shot imo.

Which is why my first thought was "This is fucking lame!", he had NO character development for the whole time he was on the show! So why the fuck should I care he is dead?

However I just read he asked to leave the show because he got a new job....



at the White House.


This leads me to believe that it's all an April Fool's Day joke and it was really his evil twin brother who died.
