Spinoff From The Porn Stash Thread: Disturbing or not...

Yay or Nay

Do you respond when straight people kiss? Are straight people 'making a statement" when they kiss? What about if two women kiss? What sort of kissing between two men would you not object to? What if they kissed each other on the cheek and hugged each other, would you tell your children that that was wrong?

I live by a moral standard, Miss Chcken. That's why I would find two men (or women) kissing in any sexual manner to be disturbing. If it's not sexual I would have no problem with it.

No-one says you shouldn't be disturbed by it. What is wrong is you moaning about their behaviour in their earshot. What is wrong with simply turning your head and not watching them or walking away?

I've gotta say, if I'm kissing my boyfriend in public and someone starts trying to lecture us on moral behavior, they'll find kissing is just the tip of the immorality iceberg.

If they want to educate their children, I feel obligated to provide as full a demonstration as possible. I'm helpful that way. :)

I don't find it disturbing, but as others have pointed out, a full on make-out session in public regardless of the sexes involved is a little much. I kiss my wife in public but we don't play tonsil hockey.

I agree with the above and other posters who have said snogging in public is pretty tiresome. It's a private activity, so indulging yourself in a public place is exhibitionism at best and obnoxious at worst. A kiss is different. A kiss is still a kiss. A sigh is just a sigh. The fundamental things apply.

Their display of affection in public is a statement by them. I have a responsibility to respond in kind.
Every public display of affection is a public statement. I wonder how you're going to respond in kind except with further public displays of affection.

I suppose you could one-up them and mount your wife. *shrug*

My moral standard is not relative.

That's true, it is dictated and does not require you to think for yourself. That is one of the reasons why religious morality is so popular.

That's silly. I actively chose to follow the standard that has been made available to all of us. I thought long and hard before making that decision and made it as an adult. I assume that many of the others that voted as I did in this poll also adhere to that standard.

Clearly you didn't think especially long or hard about it, or indeed bother to research any facts, since those standards you so admire are based on entirely misinformation and fear.

Actually, the standard I adhere to is based on information, acceptance, and love.

Your posts in this thread alone make it quite clear that is not true. You blindly spout a company line, then retroactively and willfully misinterpret facts and statistics to try and logically back up a stance that has no basis in logic and no support from statistics.

If anything, it's comforting to know that you are not actually all that secure in your opinion. If you were you would simply be honest.

Completely untrue but if it comforts you to believe that then go for it. The statistics speak for themselves. I also invite you to discuss this further via PM if you wish.
