Foreclosure sites/Databases? How?

Hi,
I have a question about websites. I was looking at these foreclosure websites like http://www.foreclosuredeals.com/foreclosure-listings-service.php I was wondering where do they all get their info from? It seems like there are alot of these sites that seem to be cookie cutter. Is there some type of government database or something? And how does a site like that keep all their info up to date? Im thinking it must be automated to a certain degree.
Does anyone know anything about this?

Most likely they are scanning county records. I have been warned by people as well as read in some articles that sites like RealtyTrac.com are scams.

I don't know anything about that site but there are vendors who do pull data from MLS systems around the country.

One of the problems is not all these systems actually have accurate flags for forclosure, short sale, handyman special and so forth as agents are afraid that devalues the property even though they have to legally disclose the information.

Google is one another vendor that gets all listing information and is updated daily if not more often. You might be able to get good results by simply searching for homes there if you are looking. I can list one or two other sites for you tomorrow if you wish and I remember this thread.

Watch for home buying gains to continue for the foreseeable future.

Well Im not looking for foreclosed homes. But my brother and I were having a discussion about these type of sites and wondering were exactly they get their info from? Is there some type of giant government database and they are all repacking it and putting it on their site? And how in the world would someone keep a site with that much info on it up to date? I assumed it must be automated kinda like google ads are. Where you put some type of script on the site and it just updates itself?
