Rare Photos for April 2009! Enjoy!!

Hey folks, got this months rare photos for you all!

My favorites:

Page 1, row 2, right: 6th season variant publicity photo of the Doctor.

Page 1, row 5, right: rare first season publicity photo variant of Levar Burton.

Page 1, row 6, right: at one point, this was the official logo text for DS9.

Page 2, row 1, left: Patrick Stewart on white. No, that's not a sandwich. Though I know some people who wish it was!

Page 2, row 1, center: 5th season variant photo of Tom Paris on basic black.

Page 2, row 5, right: the cast of Voyager celebrate their 100th episode.

The DS9 logo is very interesting - thank God they didn't actually use that!

Question: What's going on in this one? They seem to be hanging a beach ball up for... what? a caption contest?

The DS9 logo is very interesting - thank God they didn't actually use that!

That logo appeared on some pre-release items sold by then-Lincoln Enterprises (Roddenbery.com) like shirts and sweatshirts. It was also on the cover of the first bible for the series.

IIRC, the logo changed when someone in the art department, I can't recall who, did the actual one used by hand -- old school style with pen, paper, and paint or colored ink.

I like that all the publicity shots of Kirk with Nomad have him in his wrap but in the episode he wore his regular duty shirt.

Didn't care for the show, but Roxanna Dawson is a hottie!

I would have thought it was for reference. You know, some floating non-corporeal alien who was in the show that week, so they have a beach ball as a reference for the cast to look at.

Though I recall a story where they used much more enjoyable things for such. A copy of playboy tacked to the top of a poll for reference for looking at the view screen. I recall a story about such during a scene when they all had to look at the view screen in fear and horror, lol.

Its difficult to pic favorites but i like the black and white shot of Uhura and Kirk much, plus Roxann Dawson does quite nice posing in the purple top as Torres...

I was thinking the SAME thing.

If they wanted green -- and I have finally wrapped my mind around Theiss saying command was indeed green -- why didn't they QUICK get a different fabric that photographed properly, after seeing initial footage?

Somehow in your avatar YOU got it to photograph right. And you're not a movie studio to my knowledge.

Maybe the beach ball was faded?

The way I pick favorites is to go through and say, "which pic would I maybe use as an avatar" lol.

I remember the early DS9 logo in an issue of Star Trek: The Office Fanclub Magazine. The only place I ever saw it.

It wasn't tough for me to get a color that would photograph properly, but I wasn't on the set back then, operating under the time and money pressures they endured.

BTW, the shirt in my avatar was made by my mother back in the mid 70's. It was olive green knit from Joann Fabrics. I knew the "right" color even back then (from the Omega Glory viewmaster reels). I tweaked the color in the photo by adding ***gasp*** YELLOW to it (irony is funny).
