I was very impressed by the theory, which unlike ancient astronauts and other such nonsense, has the advantage of being provably falsifiable. It also explained several aspects of the Great Pyramid that have previously defied reasonable explanation.

Apparently a French team did something akin to xraying the pyramids and one read out had an unusual pattern they could make no sense of which could support the inner tunnel theory.
That said, I find it difficult to believe nothing corroborative has been discovered yet if it is true.

Why not? they can xray the earths crust. Another option could be vibration scans. Even different angles of the same stone would show up at that point.
Well, they could -but they'd sterilize all of Egypt in the process…

X-Rays have applications in measuring properties of the Earth's crust, but we're not talking about something that looks like a hospital negative of your chest. The reason these work is that X-Rays tend to be absorbed by thick, calcified material (your bones), a little bit like... rock.
In any case, just seeing how something currently is even in close detail doesn't necessarily clue you in to how it's built. I can pretty easily take apart my office chair but I have no idea what the factory machinery looked like which made it.
I don't think any serious prehistorian or archeologist gives these theory any credence.
Being scientists, they rightly would do if there were compelling evidence produced... funnily enough, there's not. The explanation "aliens did it", I think, is not only ridiculous, it's also quite offensive and dismissive of the achievements of our ancestors in their often incredibly impressive early civilizations.
However, what has been argued about in serious circles over the years is the exact method by which the Pyramids may have been constructed. I watched this programme and it seemed very sensible as a layman -- much moreso than some of ideas involving pulleys and rolling pins I've seen on other documentaries over the years.
Ok, what about Vibration Scans? I'm not sure if there is something out there already like this, but it works in a similar way to radar.
Ground penetrating radar that echos images of things beneath the surface ... couldn't something like be used along the sides and inside of the pyramid to know for sure?
