She knows exactly on which side her toast is buttered on (J.J. Abrams, Reese Witherspoon, Return to Cloverfield?), she knows that Star Trek XI (thanks to J.J. Abrams' involvement) is probably going to be the next flavour of the week/month/year and she also knows that she has to sweet-talk her fans now and then (including the nerds and geeks who don't give a hoot in a barrel whether she is a poser or not as long as she continues to be a tasty piece of eye candy)...

Who would do the vulcan greeting if they didn't like or at the very least have some affection for Star Trek? Wait I just thought of something....maybe she did it to create a little buzz for her friends movie -- if they are friends I really have no idea -- but that seems more plausabile now that i think about it.
